Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Fresh install of MePo, some of the files I used to play are not working anymore...

I don't really understand what happen. I reinstalled a frsh MePo 1.2 alpha on a frsh win 7 ultimate 64 bits, and some files that used to work fine on my previous install stopped working (this previous install was used with mepo 1.0, lot of other codec packs, etc, and I kust wanted to start on a clean install).

I installed saf 5 beta 101201, unlocked. The file shows a green box when opened in graphstudio for a "Mpeg4s Decoder DMO" filter between MPC-avi splitter and the EVR renderer (see attached screenshot). When playing the file, I got sound but blank video window.
I get the same result playing the file in mepo or mpc-hc, but it plays just fine in WMP.

Any idea of what happen? I always played this file fine, it stopped working on my previous install after I installed then uninstalled shark007 codec package, thus leading me to reinstall the whole machine - but no luck.

Note I also have other files doing the same, unfortunately more in the kids anime folder than any other place

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Felix

Hi Felix,
I had the same problem, I don't know why it appears suddenly (maybe a windows 7 update) but I know how to fix it:
Guide d?installation rapide pour Media Center
I don't know if you speak french so I hope you can handle it. Go to paragraph 5.3 because this is the one that interests us and, after installing Win7DSFilterTweaker:
Win7DSFilterTweaker Free Download and Reviews - Fileforum
Configure it like described: Let the default settings (Verify that mp2 and mp3 are set to ffdshow otherwise do it) and click apply, then apply a second time without changing anything on the second screen and then on the third one, check "Disable mpeg43 decode dmo" and the 2 others like in the picture. IT will tell windows that ffdshow will handle this formats too.
Then your AVI will work again on MePo :)

Hello,
Just a few words on the DMO decoder problem in case other users have it. I first followed the instructions above but finally, after more testing, you don't need to disable the dmo decoder, just setting the mp2 and mp3 to ffdshow (instead of "Microsoft") do the trick.

+crop - this will remove black border around picture. ALL TVs have overscan, so this is doing automatically if you play DVD in DVD player but not in PC

Not all TVs have overscan (and those ones that have you usually have an option to turn it off). Overscan shouldn't be applied by default since not all content is mastered badly :)

+brightness correction - to make black = black, not gray.

If video black and white levels are already correct (on driver and renderer side) this will cause picture quality to go down.

You're right tourettes.
These features shouldn't be activated by default, they should be an option to turn on.
Because if your setup and source is correct, you don't want changes in size or changes in black and white levels.
Hoborg, could you turn these features off and explain in the opening post how to turn it on, if someone wants to make use of it?
:D

Remember, this will affect only MPEG-2 source.
FFDshow MPEG-2 decoder doesn't work correctly with MePo (A/V sync issue), so there is not much reason to worry about this.

The crop ony remove 5 or 6 pixels and black level are corected only minimal.
DVB-t broadcast in Czech need both this option for good picture (i am not using MePo, so FFDshow working perfectly for me).

And if you want decode DVDs as they are - you can still use PDVD decoder.

So i didnt see reason to turn it off by default :)

This is already an option in the sense that you can change the settings proposed by Hoborg whenever you want, personally I have my own profiles that I load each time I upgrade to a new SAF version (and I don't use cropping :)) .

Hi hoborg. Thanks for the reply.
But I already check those always. I was aiming at the revision updates of the codecs them selves. What changed in them. Improvements for... fixed bug....xxxxx. the reasons for updating them for us/me.
But I now remember we had this discussion a long time ago as well. So I suppose the answer stays the same.

@edterbak:

Check FFDshow/MPC-HC change logs (from START menu) for more info.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi, I am having problems with AAC audio from a Blackgold BGT3620 DVB-T2. I have the latest SAF5 9 (Unlocked) filter pack installed & Core AVC v2 H264 filter (the PDVD10 & Microsoft filter give very low frame rate, looks like a slide show). Terrestrial HD channels use AAC audio, but the Monogram AAC filter gives no sound except the occasional pop or click. The picture is fine. I have tried the earlier Monogram 9.0 filter but that behaves in the same way. Graph Studio shows that the Monogram filter is in use. Can anyone suggest a solution to my problem?

Thanks

Steve

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hello,

maybe it's already been remarked by someone but I don't know a ease way to search after this in 217 pages of this topic.

This pack really works wonderfull. But when trying to view a file with DTS-HD audio, it doen't work.

The only way I found to solve my problem is to install Dscaler and to unregister ffdshow.ax. But then all ffdschow is desactivated and video files with aac audio (for example) will not work anymore.

What didn't help:
- played with merit value
- desactivate DTS decoder in FFdshow (but with GraphStudio you can see that ffdshow is still used and then I hear my video in stereo)

Can someone help me?

Miranda:

I didn't see a reason why it should not be working.
And how can be DTS-HD audio connected to MPEG-2 video decoder (dscaler)?

Can you post small video sample to test?
Did you tryed to play it in graphstudio?

    Hi Hoborg.

Will it be possible for SAF 5.0 to support streaming filters like sopcast, tvants and other p2p streaming protocols?

    Ex. http://download.sopcast.cn/download/SopFilter.zip

Would be nice to use p2p streaming links in Onlinevideos and automatic support when SAF is installed
