Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I have done a clean install to mey HTPC.
And install Win7 + MediaPortal + StreamedMP + SAF 5.00.
My connection is HTPC - HDMI - Receiver - HDMI - Plasma

I have passthrough DTS; DD; DD-THD and DTS-MA.
But my audio files (*.mp3) won't play, my receiver display DTS when i play (*.mp3).
Why is that? What settings i have wrong?

Before my clean install, i have everything good.

If you play mp3 in graphstudio - is it working?

    Hoborg,

I still have the problem with Dolby Prologic II SPDIF passthrough not working with this new version. The last working version for Dolby Prologic passthrough to work was 101201.

Is anyone else having this problem???

    Hi Hoborg.
I came aross a post from marvman here and found this:
    RARFileSource

Enter RARFileSource, a DirectShow filter that let's most video players read RAR
files on the fly. The only restriction is that the video must be stored without
compression, this is fortunately the norm since WinRAR doesn't do a very good
    job on video anyway.

Lets you play movies in rar files :D I have SAF5 installed and it works really nice after just installing it.
Plays avi, mkv i rars. Havn't tried image yet.

If video must be stored without compresion - what is the reason to have it in RAR?

Some have a reason to do that.

XMBC has excellent support for rar files. Might want to give mediaportal that too. I know rar mount 3 exist and other one. But this one is so simple..

I don't see what is the interest to have movies on RAR files? To free more space?

The movies are only stored in RAR container without compresion - this mean it will only increase filesize. I don't get the point of this too

Scene releases are stored in rar files. Depending on the type of release, different sizes. Large movie files (like x264 mkv's) are stored in 50x10e6 bytes.
The purpose is for distribution is the credits earned by multiple uploaders. 1 file (original movie mkv) can't be uploaded by multiple uploaders to a FTP site. So only 1 can earn credits for the upload. So for the sake of multiple users earning credits it is stored in multiple rar's. And there is a speed issue. Multiple uploads from different source is faster (not always) than 1 upload from 1 (perhaps bussy) source.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Anyway, IMO not related to saf. One can create a plugin for this. New thread. Also it seems to work already after installing the filter according to posts up.

On topic: I installed the latest saf. No issues.
What's the advantage of updating the versions every month? Fixes things? If so, what? Just wondering.
    Thanx hoborg.
