Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

In RC1 setup, there are several minor text issues/typos:
    - Recomended --> Recommened
    - The newly added AVI splitter selection/reset (whatever) screen only show 1,5 line of text (Windows 7), the second line is cut in half (the bottom half doesn't show)

A suggestion about subtitles settings screen:
    - No (my player can handle it) --> you might mention MediaPortal in there so that the newbies wouldn't get confused.

Other than that, congratulations on reaching RC1 and thank you!!! :D

    Did you try both aplitters?
Post a sample, i will look.

With the MPC-Splitter this .avi does work fine (but not the mjpeg-avi). Will post sample when I'm home. Btw: What is the best way to make a short clip from an .avi?

VirualDub, but you need vfw decoder to be able to open it.

Lets hope SAF6 based on LAVF splitter fix all this AVIs issues :)

AW: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hello!

I use latest SAF with MePo 1.2Alpha. Bitstreaming of DolyTrueHD and DTS MA to my receiver works with FFDSHOW Audio. However, when I play a BD (for example Inception) with a Dolby Digital Plus track, the receiver only shows "Dolby Digital" without the "Plus", whereas playing the disc with PowerDVD shows the "DD Plus" on the receiver.

In the FFDShow dialog, all boxes are checked in the "passthrough" section.

I also found out, that when resuming or skipping forward/backward in a BD with a "DD Plus" track, there is no sound anymore- only video. Sound is only working, when the movie is started from the beginning and not with "continue". With pausing/playing there is no problem. This is 100% reproducible.

Does anyone has the same problem?

    Regards,

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hello,

hopefully you so can help me, I tried for hours now, but cant get my problem fixed.

I bought a new VGA Card (ATI HD5570), installed the newest Catalyst and also the newest ATI HDMI Audio drivers.
    OS: WinXP

    Now I installed saf500rc1.exe.
Followed all instructions (uninstalled previous MPC, CCC Pack etc.)

I didnt even try MediaPortal because opening Video files in Media Player Classic does not work.

Old XVid Videos or something like that works.

The problem is with DTS/AC3 5.1 MKV-Files. Sound does not work, the only thing I can hear is a very bad swoosh noise :(

My PC is connected to the AVR via HDMI and of course I want to use bitstream passthrough, so I marked that during SAF installation.

    Tried several ffdshow settings:
For example disabling Pass-through in ffdshow audio causes Media Player to play these files, with correct sound, AVR display showing "PCM".
But as mentioned I want to use HDMI passthrough :(

Onboard sound etc. disabled of course, ATI HD Audio ist the only output device, selectable.

just in case , talking about jtter correction, i noticed that if jtter is disabled all my m2ts files go muted :(

so i've created a autoload condition to disable jitter just when is used ffdshow video decoder ( i choose that option couse my avis, with jitter enabled, get a framedrop every some minutes).

    bye

    Hi Hoburg,

yes it's the same in GraphStudio, whenever the slider is used to jump in the movie position, sound stops while video goes on. But I just found out, that checking "Enable jitter correction" in the ffdshow Audio dialog fixes this problem. Now, jumping forward/backward works in MediaPortal.

Yesterday, video/audio was massively out of sync watching a BD with DolbyTrueHD. Pressing pause/play solved the problem. I will now check if the "jitter correction" also helps with this - it is more a show stopper, than the other points.

Can anyone help with Dolby Digital PLUS not working on my side ??

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi all,

I started using SAF5 a few weeks ago. Over all I'm really satisfied with it - so big thanks to Hoborg! :D

All settings are set as suggested from Hoborg. So h264/x264 videos uses the ffdshow DXVA video decoder. AC3/DTS passthrough is working fine, CPU utilization is fine. The only issue is the picture is really dark. In ffdshow video decoder I'm able to modify the Output Levels and the gamma value. That's working for mpegs without any issues. But the DXVA decoder seems not to use that setting, furthermore there are no such settings in ffdshow DXVA's setting window. I can modify gamma in CCC (I use a HD3200), but that's not the perfect option, because it seems to be more an issue with the output levels. Is there any chance to set these levels? If not, can someone explain why? ;)

edit: I just started a HD video inside MePo, but it shows no difference after changing the gamma setting in CCC. Attached you can find a part of the log file. I'm not really familiar with reading the logs, are there any issues or is it fine?

    Thanks for help!
