Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hoborg,
I have a question because I am not SAF guru. (thats you :) )
Recently I am seeing weird behaviour with SAF + owlsroost newer dshowhelper.dll
I am seeing SD material with 25fps played at a TVscreen of 50hz being deinterlaced. Is there any setting in SAF where this can be influenced?
Thanks for the help.

I'll try and play it in graphedit, to see if it is there as well. (which is probably your anwser ghehehe )

Deinterlacing is done by HW, not by SAF.
And yes, try it in Graphsudio :)

@ALL:
So maybe jitter correction should be disabled only for DTS...

from my point of view is a problem related to container or HW /software Video Decoders ......

on my sistem i disabled jitter just for avi files to avoid the microstutter i got every 3 min.... (using ffdshow software video decoder)

in other cases:mkv, m2ts etc (all hw accelereted decoded) ......i have to leave jitter enabled because in some cases with jitter disabled i got no audio, even in the same file there are dts and ac3 tracks, all tracks are muted.

i want tell you that when i got audio muted, system sounds are working and in ffdshow audio decoder i see the volume levels (under volume filter) are going up and down as is supposed to be. ?????

    bye

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi all,

I started using SAF5 a few weeks ago. Over all I'm really satisfied with it - so big thanks to Hoborg! :D

All settings are set as suggested from Hoborg. So h264/x264 videos uses the ffdshow DXVA video decoder. AC3/DTS passthrough is working fine, CPU utilization is fine. The only issue is the picture is really dark. In ffdshow video decoder I'm able to modify the Output Levels and the gamma value. That's working for mpegs without any issues. But the DXVA decoder seems not to use that setting, furthermore there are no such settings in ffdshow DXVA's setting window. I can modify gamma in CCC (I use a HD3200), but that's not the perfect option, because it seems to be more an issue with the output levels. Is there any chance to set these levels? If not, can someone explain why? ;)

edit: I just started a HD video inside MePo, but it shows no difference after changing the gamma setting in CCC. Attached you can find a part of the log file. I'm not really familiar with reading the logs, are there any issues or is it fine?

    Thanks for help!

    To add some more information:

The PC is connected to a LCD screen via HDMI. When I change from Full RGB to Limited RGB in CCC the picture is better, but still not as it should be. Any ideas?

If you play your video directly in graphstudio, is it better?

    Hi Hoborg,

no it shows the same issues when playing with Graphstudio or MPC-HC.

Maybe it's really an issue with the output levels, because a video played with ffdshow (non DXVA) shows a much better picture when changing the output levels to 16-235?

    Then try different GPU drivers.

Ok, will try another one. Do you have a suggestion what version? I'm using 9.5 for my ATI HD3200. I think that was recommended for SAF4. Is there a newer one already checked for SAF5?

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I'm always using the latest (currently using 11.2 with my 4200 IGP) Catalyst drivers and I can say that every one of them was problem-free in MediaPortal.
Although I remember Catalyst 11.1 was a bit problematic with MPC-HC (the one included with SAF5 at that time), 11.2 solved that problem without down/upgrading SAF5 version...
