Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I have a weird problem. Filters are displayed correctly in graphedit and sometimes it will play m2ts or mkv file just fine in grapedit and sometimes i have to press play multiple times. sometimes the black windows opens but no video is playing. then if i hit play one or two more times it starts playing but never the first time which is why it probably does not work in MP either.

This seems to only happen though on movies with HD audio.

Any ideas?

Well I was advised to try the MPC decoder to eliminate any DXVA fault, by Paranoid Delusion in this thread https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-channel-poor-reception-one-79404/index2.html

I'll tell him that the MPC decoder doesn't do MPEG-2 and see what he says.

So what codec does MPC-HC use to decode MPEG-2?

Mpeg2DecFilter.ax
You will find this file in your MP directory - this decoder have lot of issues and missing features, so it is disabled by SAF install.
To re-enable it, register it again or uninstall SAF.
Using this decoder is not recomended by me.

We are talking about the default Gabest codec.

Would it be possible for SAF to left alone the MPC MPEG2 decoder that comes installed with MP? Why I'm requesting this is that the codec is used for trouble shooting purposes and if SAF disables it it will cause lot of extra work for MP team to tell people how to enable it again. After all, having it registered, but not configured to be used in MP wont have any side effects (unless the other MPEG2 decoders fail and DS uses the registered one as fall back... but still it would be better to fall back on something than just fail completely).

Again one more reason why codec packs are evil :)

    Hi Hoborg.

The Mpeg2DecFilter.ax is not recommended, but for me is the only one that gives to me a smooth, clearly LiveTV watching. I don't know why, I'm a rookie. I've a Cinergy C PCI HD tuner, and even its own codecs doesn't do that.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

There are already 3 MPEG-2 decoders in SAF - two PDVD and one FFDshow.
IF SAF is uninstalled, Gabest decoder used by MP is restored.

    Hi.
Then use it, nobody force you to not use it :)

But not for the troubleshooting purposes. We need to have one basic MPEG2 codec (with no HV acceleration as well) so that devs and users have same setup. Otherwise the troubleshooting is just not worth doing.
