Can someone confirm. It looks like embedded subs come on by default.

Can I control this through Mediaportal i.e. switch on/off or do I have to untick the subtitles option in FFDShow?

Sorry if this is a basic question, but the subtitels controls in Mediaportal do not work with SAF 5.0 (for me at least) and I am assuning this is because they are written to work with MPC-HC subtitles?

Any guidance would be great!

SAF 5 recent versions automatically activate FFDSHOW subtitles. But as far as I can see, these cannot (yet) be controlled from within MePo. To control the subtitles through normal shortcuts/remote you still need to use MPC-HC subtitles. And thus deactivate FFDSHOW subs in both Video and Video DXVA control.

At least, this is my experience.

I tried to switch them off in FFDShow in the hope they might appear through MPC. I don't have the MPCVideoDec.ax file registered, but I have it enabled in MePo settings - would I need it to show subs this way?

This have nothig to do with subtitles. Just click no to enable subtitles in SAF install and use MePo MPC-HC subtitle engine.

I installed latest SAF 5 beta but it says that is incompatible with my version of Windows 7 Ultimate.
Also, 2 movies don't play in MediaPortal but play in MPC (Daybreaksers, A Fistfull of Dollars), and one have glitches and large blocks (300).

Can you please help me?

Try unlock SAF (check PM)
Try it again in graphstudio.
If it will be not working, create small sample in MKV merge and post it here.
