Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    @brab
If you open your file in graphstudio, does it play?

    @Johnnie
    This sounds like bad signal...
If you play older recording, does it play OK?

    Hi Hoborg,

Its not a bad signal, when I watch analog TV my picture is perfect. looking at the signal bar in TV-Server its almost totally green. And I didn't had stuttering in MePo RC's and 1.0.2. (never have changed anything on TV reception here)

Is there anything else I can look into?

And of course thanks for looking into I wrote.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi there,

First: thx for your great work!!! :)

    Now the Problem:
I'm using SAF 5 beta 1 in combination with latest stable MP.
If i start playing a 13gb-mkv File (BD) in VLC media player the quality is very good, but if i use MePo to play the same file the qualitiy is worse than in VLC Player, the Saturation is decreased a bit and it looks a bit blured. If i try to play that file in GraphStudio it looks exactly like the VLC Player one, so i think this problem is caused in combination with Mediaportal!

How can i fix this Problem?

    Should i use SAF 4?

    Thx and greetz,

Hoborg, you are correct, if I don't enable the passthrough I get sound just fine.

    But:
    1. I have sound connect to Harman Kardon AVR-445 via Coaxial cable, so I need S/PDIF passthrough to be enabled.
    2. When I first installed SAF 5.00 with enabled passthrough it worked just fine.
    3. With AC3Filter installed and passthrough enabled (in AC3Filter) everything works fine.

So my main goal is to get SAF to work with S/PDIF passthrough enabled without AC3Filter installed.
    Thanks again!

My passthrough experience = 0, i do not have reciever...
You can try enable/disable "connect as PCM first" option in FFDshow audio decoder - output.

I have no idea what AC3 filter did to your system, but as you can see, something is broken :/

Just for test, try to use VMR9 instead of EVR - look into MePo codec setup.

    Hi.
VLC is not directshow based player, so such testing is pointless, it have its own decoders and renderers.
If you have good picture in Grapstudio, then SAF is working as it should.
MePo have modified EVR renderer, so maybe this is the problem.
To confirm this, change renderer from EVR to VMR9 and see if that helps.
If yes, it is MePo issue, and there is nothing i can do with that :/
I read about similar issue here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/poor-picture-quality-tv-720p-movies-87285/

If I disable DXVA of H264 codec the 30 Days of Night (picture 2) works without any kind of problem...
The Last Starfighter (picture 1) works without sound with DXVA enabled or disabled. I thinks the audio is somehow broken...

I'm using WinXP Prof. The Renderer was already set to VMR9 (all checkboxes checked and gaussian quad filtering), if i choose EVR, MePo wont play the mkv-File... :(

Thx also for that link, i have exactly the same Problem than the one in this thread!

    Hi Hoborg

Can you explain why you ask ffdshow to resize video <720P to screen resolution, rather than lettting the GPU scale up to screen resolution??

    Thanks

Your file can be broken, can you post small video sample (use MKVMerge to split).
