Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Sorry Hoborg I've some strange issue with the last (not sure about the SVN101001) releases of SAF. My sound card (ESI Juli@) is set to 192k and after a random time (5 min -10 min) the sound quality (both with livetv or dvd viewing) is poor with noticeable cracks and pops.
Any suggestions?
Great work anyway!!!:D

No idea. I was not able to reproduce any sound issues for long time.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi, is it possible to update an existing SAF 4.0 Installation? Or is it automatically removed/updated by SAF 5.0?
Second Question: What about an unlocked installation? Actually my SAF 4.0 installation is unlocked, will this also be when I install SAF 5.0?
If not, can anybody send me the instructions for this?
Im using Win XP SP3 and the latest MP Version

Thanks

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I tried the latest Beta of SAF 5 and want now to give a short feedback.

After installing SAF 5 all my .avi files stuttered every few seconds. This wasn't before. Some files even could not be played like "back to viewlist".
The main reason why I installed this was the recommendation in the "Bluray Handler" Thread but this changed nothing to my problem... So I went back to SAF 4.0 Stable

Maybe when there is a stable release I will try it again...

If you play them in Graphstudio, does it play OK?

    Hi,
I have currently 4 issues regarding audio/video, can you help?

    1.
I have an issue with delayed video.
In Live-TV (or its recordings) it depends on the broadcasting / channel.
But in videos, regardless if .avi (divx, xvid), .mkv (.h264), SD or HD content, I get sometimes a delay of the video of up to ca. 0,8 seconds.
However, it is not a constant delay.
I know this is a very not-detailed description, is there something I could check to give more information?
I do not have postprocessing in MP.

    -----------
    2.
    Independently of the problem above,
I also have problems to get DTS audio. I had DTS passthrough in ffdshow checked, but it would not play the DTS videos. Having only AC3 (dolby digital) enabled it turns DTS to Dolby digital when sending it via spdif.
    with SAF4.00 it worked.
What do I need to set up for this?

    -----------
    3.
compared to SAF4.00 I now have smaller images of the videos playing (depending on the source).
HD content from TV or video is ok.
But e.g. NTSC DVDs do not expand to the full hight of my TV anymore. Also some other videos or (SD) TV (depending on source) do not use full hight or length of screen.

    ----------
    4.
I use OnlineVideos for Apple Trailers. But usually they are in 24p but my system does only change to 24p when having the file on the hard disk (when playing videos it works fine). Now when viewing online the trailers I have of course jumping image due to wrong Hz.
Do you know a solution for this?

    Thanks
    bart

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    bart0190:
    1)try to disable audio passthrough.
No idea why a lot of user have similar problem when audio passthrough.
Try to play your videos in Graphstudio.

2)DTS passtrough is disabled by default - go to START, SAF, FFDShow, configure audio, output and enable DTS

3)try to disable resize - can be related?
    Code:
-if you have problem with aspect ratio under MePo, go to START - SAF - FFDShow - Configure video - Resize & Aspect and check "No aspect ratio correction"
4)no idea, this is not related with SAF.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I was wondering if you could make an installer where you can choose which components to install :). For instance, I don't need another copy of MPCHC lying around on the hard disc, when I already had it before etc. I know it doesn't hurt, but still... ;)

SAF ask to uninstall old MPC-HC, right? :)
Hm, no, it didn't ask that.

MPC-HC is part of SAF, and very usefull. I is not just a copy, it is completelly reconfigured.
That's the problem. It will overwrite the configuration of an existing installation, if your existing installation isn't configured to store the configuration in an .ini file.
