Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Since most of my movies are also kids movies, it's a pain to keep switching decoders when the kids want to watch a tv show after watching a movie (or the other way around). I gather there is/was an option in MPC-HC to not use DXVA for SD content. Would it be possible for an option like that in SAF?

SAF already have FFDShow profile to disable DxVA for SD.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I downloaded four 1080p samples from Demo World. Although all the videos played correctly I could not hear any sound. So I upgraded from SAV4 to SAV5. After the upgrade two of the four files played correctly. The one did not play at all (MP would just exit back to the menu once play starts) and the other did not display any video while the sound worked. I changed the codec from ffdshow DxVA to only ffdshow. After the change three files played correctly, but one of the videos keeps going back to the menu without playing anything.

In VLC all four files plays without any problem.

My setup looks exactly like Hobart suggested on https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...xperimental-based-ffdshow-dxva-decoder-77591/ except I can successfully play one more video (like mentioned) when I use ffdshow instead of ffdshow DXVA.

    Any ideas?

You enabled audio passthrough durning SAF install or you add FFDshow audio decoder to MePo postprocessing - right?
Try to play your samples in Graphstudio, not MePo.

    Hi

I enabled audio passthrough during the install - I passthough all Dolby Digital and DTS. It seems my problems are with the video codec, not the audio codec since I upgraded. I'll try Grapstudio tonight.

    Thanks

    Just try to disable passthrough.

Can this be the new ffdshow about good 10-15% more CPU utilization needs?

SAF already have FFDShow profile to disable DxVA for SD.

Thanks, I discovered that just after I posted :D which would explain why ffdshow can play the SD files. My main problem is that ffdshow(DXVA) won't decode some of my HD movies, which is why I use PDVD10... which has trouble with SD media.

I'd love to be able to just use ffdshow which would make things so simple.

This really seems to be an issue with ffdshow not supporting some files, since it's a beta should I post a thread over their way?

Perhaps I could set up a profile that disables h264 codec support for hd media in ffdshow?

So the file would render like this:

    ffdshow(dxva) -no,
    goto ffdshow - no,
    goto PDVD10 - works!

I'll give that a try (assuming I have my merits right, it might work)

Can you post small video sample you cannot play?
Did you try it to play it in Graphstudio?

    Hmm,
ffdshow doesn't save enabled codecs in the profiles. Scratch that idea.

I'll cut a minute out of the file and PM you, thanks hoborg.

Graphstudio, drops it straight to ffdshow (not DXVA). I've set MP to use PDVD10 to override merit.

[edit]If I disable the compatibility checks, it plays but is unwatchable due to artifacts[/edit]
