Re: SAF v5.01 *final* (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

youtube works indeed ok (i've tested that long time ago) so there must be something different in the lucky-tv mp4's, which prevents them from playing through the file source(url).

Was kinda hoping you could make something out of it.
Btw, the problem is also present if you open given url (few posts ago) in graphstudio or mplayerc, so for testing/debugging purposes it isn't really necessary to play the video through mediaportal...

So this may be problem of server / lucky site.

Possibly, but with saf 4.00 it works the second time i choose the video, so the problem is in the lucky server in combination with saf 5 or 6.

I am not fully into codecs, but shouldn't it always be possible to play a file through the file source (url) if it is a valid file?
I mean, wgetting the file and play through file source (async) works perfectly

That is what OnlineVideo plugin do - add file source (url) to graph.
No idea what can be wrong. If you tube working then MP4 works in general :)

AW: SAF v5.01 *final* (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi,

I recently changed to SAF 5.01 from 4.0, both unlocked, and still am not used to things:

    1. Audio passthrough doesn't seem to work properly as it did before. DTS is passed through correctly, but not Dolby Digital, neither 2.0 or 5.1. I deactivated postprocessing, but should I change something in the ffdshow audio configuration?

    2. With 4.0 I was using the PowerDVD 9.0 codec for DVD playback because it seemed better than ffdshow. I still have the same problems with ffdshow, but when switching to the PowerDVD 10.0 codec, I can't enable subtitles. Unfortunately there's no option for 9.0 anymore. Is there something I can do about this? (I also have PowerDVD 10 installed.)

Thank you very much for your help!

Re: AW: SAF v5.01 *final* (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

There is two question - first one to enable passthrough, second to enable HD audio passthrough (only on Win7).

I mean the second one. I said 'yes' to enable HD passthrough. Did something go wrong or are my settings correct this way?

I will check that again. If HD formats are not enabled, just enable them.[/QUOTE]

I just re-installed, double-checking whether I said 'yes' to both 'do you have a receiver' and 'do you have a HD receiver', but once again after install only 'Dolby Digital (AC3)' and 'DTS' under Output in ffdshow audio are checked.
Maybe a mistake in the installer?

Hmm, that possible, but not big deal, just enable them after saf install - the passthrough window popup after saf install.

Are they AVIs with multiple audio streams? If yes, make sure you enable MPC-HC AVI spitter rurning SAF install, or just use MKV merge to covert container from AVI to MKV.

Re: SAF v5.01 *final* (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

As always, many many thanks for this hoborg. I have a really annoying problem still with blurays (rips, i'll get onto that in a mo) however, it really looks like it is not using DXVA - cpu rockets to 70%, shoots to 100% and then video starts to stutter in both mepo and graphstudio.

In graphstudio, it shows it is linked to "ffdshow video decoder" - is this correct? I notice in the installation i get two configuration choices, ffdshow video decoder or ffdshow DXVA video decoder. Is this a separate program or just the same config but called with different flags? How can i really check if it is using DXVA, and if it is not, how to fix? I'm shocked if dxva is using 100% cpu!

To clarify, the videos i'm trying to play are blu ray rips using anydvdHD direct to disk, so are around 30GB in size. Sorry I haven't posted any logs, i'm unsure what ones you would like, it's late here so I can do this tomorrow :) Many thanks again.

Changes i've made from default - disabled post-processing in dxva, disabled subtitles in dxva, disabled dts and dtshd passthrough (cpu still rockets on files with a dolby soundtrack). I have a HD capable receiver.

I mean the second one. I said 'yes' to enable HD passthrough. Did something go wrong or are my settings correct this way?

I will check that again. If HD formats are not enabled, just enable them.
