Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Thank you so much buddy. Thats it.

I've just looked for the reg keys, found them and added them to my existing batch files which change my audio device.

Now if i press my harmony key the batch file changes the audio device and ticks or unticks the tickmarks in the LAV audio confugration. Just testet it for good.

Thanks again
Henric

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Hello hoborg,

I'm using SAF 4 and now 5.02 quite some time and everything works great. But now there are more and more 10bit encoded video files that SAF 5.02 can't play back. Is 6.00 able to do so? Or is there any way to implement this feature by myself?

Thanks for your answer!

So i tested out the latest saf and I got the usual spiky lines (with Shift+1) when watching a blu Ray.

When installing I picked no ffdshow subtitles, I picked yes to audio passthru and no to HD bitstrem audio(only a dts amp here).

In the ffdshow audio config I removed "resample" and AC3 Spdif mode. Now all of a sudden I get flat lines with all my blu rays.

    Whoo hoo !

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Thanks for the hard work hoborg.
Im using saf 6.0 unlocked with LAVF audio for all audio decoders, and for the first time I've managed to get 5.1 audio from my Channel 4 HD recording (not had any 5.1 live streams on other HD channels yet, so I was not able to test live decoding).

For the DVB-T2 users who want to knwo the settings I'm using :
Installed using subtitles integarted to MP, AUDIo HD receiver, and ticked to install FFDshow audio codec.
    In Mediaportal Settings :
-Set all codecs as Hoborg shows on first page, except that in TV section set Lavf audio for AAC ddecoder.
-In the video section activate the postprocessor FFDshow Audio processor (for aac 5.1 videos to be transcoded to AC3 5.1 so your amp can decode them as 5.1 sound instead of surround)
    - In the TV section, also activate the postprocessor FFDshow audio processor (so that the HE-AAC sound from DVB-T2 is converted to ac3 5.1 when needed)

Thats it. I belieeve that the LAvF splitter and audio codec are able to manage the specific HE-AAC format, but do not do AAC (whether its HE-ACC or standard AAC) re-encode to AC3 on the fly , which is required as no amplifier is capable of decoding AAC. Thus, adding the FFDshow postprocessor takes care of the reencode. Before that, I don't think that the FFDshow audio codec was able to manage HE-AAC (as far as I know).

Once Lavf audio will support re-encoding aac to AC3, I don't think hat we will need FFDshow audio at all anymore :)

Thanks again for the SAF package Hoborg ! sorry if I've repeated things which were already said ! :)

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    Hi @all,

i've just detected that i got a problem with all my family movies which are in m2ts format. I guess its since updating from saf 4 to saf 6 2 days ago but not sure cuz i dont watch those movies such often and i also updated to mp 1.2.0. a week ago and also added the tv service some weeks ago. So maybe the other fact also plays some role.

When i watch such a m2ts file in mepo the cpu usage rises about 80-90% thats why the files has lags all the time. For mee it seems DXVA does not work. Playing an mkv or watching TV with HD is fine and the cpu usage is about 20-40%. If i start a m2ts movie outside of mepo with mpc-hc on the lower left corner there is a dxva sign so i guess dxva is working right? Then the movie has no lags and the cpu usage is abot 20-40%.

    Anybody an advice for me.

    Thanks
    Henric

    Hi.
If your movie will be working OK in Graphstudio (START-SAF-Tools-Graphstudio), then SAF is working as it should.

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

It isnt that funny for me. Is thee any chance to analyze the the problem? Which player dous mepo use, can i open it manuelly?

I found out that adding fddshowdxvadecoder to video post processing in mepo is solving my problem. But in the sticky for saf 4 and saf 5 you wrote not to add any filter to post processing. Does this have any bad influence on me? I figured out nothing, TV, h264 stuff(mkv, ts) and my family videos are fine now with a cpu usage of about 40%
I will test an older image with saf 4,i would bet not to have the problem there and that was also mepo 1.2.0.

Can u shortly tell me the pros and cons of saf 5 and 6. I thinking about installing saf 5 cuz it was final, saf 6 is still under develpement right?

    Thanks
    Henric

Edit: my gpu is a ATI Radeo 4650 but didnt have any problems with h264 stuff in the past.
