Tried the new, new file. Same as before. 30 second delay before movie starts. MPEI LAV filters play film immediately

Can you check the LAVF splitter revision? It should be 0.51.3.0.
If you have it then i am out of ideas...

I still disagree with you stopping services, but if you're going to, you need to restart them as well after you've finished the (un)install. You can't just leave somebody's recorder in a non-functional state, and the user shouldn't have to sit there trying to work out why their recordings suddenly aren't working. Not everyone's an IT wiz and knows what a Windows Service is, or what it does, and most of them probably don't care either. All they want is their chosen application to function as it's supposed to.

If people are using their MePo machines as PVRs/HTPCs, chances are they don't reboot them that often anyway, but instead put them in standby, which means the service is never going to restart by itself. By the time they realise MePo/FTR/whatever other recorder isn't working, they've already missed programs they wanted to record.
Well, again, this is not that easy. SAF installer have no idea what servises are actually running and which are stopped.
The service can be stoped already durning SAF install by aplication itself and it can be started durning SAF uninstall.
User can even change recording software between SAF install/uninstall.
If SAF remember the original status, it will stop it and then we are in the same dead end.
I can add a question if stoping service should de done or not, but i think it will only bring more problems comparing to how it is done now.

I dont known how MePo handle recording service if aplication ask for it, but for example nPVR start it automatically if service is stoped, so there is no problem here.

If you've no idea what service you're stopping, you shouldn't be stopping it ... period! You've obviously got some code in there telling it to stop these TV services. I'm no developer, but I'm sure there must be some checks that can be put in that log what you're stopping and restart them again.

I don't use TV Server, I use For The Record's tuner for my recordings. If the service is stopped, the only way it's going to start again is if I either reboot or manually start it myself. If the service is stopped, the scheduler doesn't kick in, so the machine doesn't wake to do the recordings, because it doesn't know there's any recordings to do. If the machine's asleep, good bet it's not going to magically wake up by itself. ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1344889773][/DOUBLEPOST]

The current MePo version is 0.51.2.0. Don't know if that's relevant.

Mybe you can check MePo LAVF splitter settings and compare it to SAF LAVF splitter settings. Maybe for example subtitles handling can cause it.

Image on left is MePo. The subtitle entries seem to be the difference between the two.[DOUBLEPOST=1344893094][/DOUBLEPOST]
I got an idea about NAS problem, i will post another SAF test soon.
What NAS problem? I don't have any problems with my NAS :) You seem rather fixated on it however ...

Bingo!

Now the video starts immediately, using either ffdshow (settings on 1st page) or LAV.
Good :)

EDIT:
BTW, the change can have negative effect on some situations. For example if you have *.MOV file incorectly named as *.AVI,, etc... it can refuse to play. But since nearly all formats are splitted by LAVF splitter, it should work.
Lets wait and see :)

Wow - that's a big improvement - just tried it with a movie which actuall refused to start at all - now - even doing some copyoperation over the network it starts in an instance :)

Only problme I have now is that sound is scrambled when wathing DTS sources or Blueray - I can ony see LAV and Microsoft DTV-DVD Audiodecoder in my list - doens't make any difference which one I juse.
