Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

@bluebear: is your audio ahead of the video? And is it steady (i.e. it does not get worse over time)?
Well at the moment audio and video is synced and has been so for several hours. My issue seems to be intermittent and I do not understand how to provoke it.
I had framedrops and out of sync this morning. Audio is before video not after, usually this is the case. But I have also
seen gradual decay in out of sync so audio and video increases, but this has only happened a few times.
I´m gonna try different audio codec just in case.

Well, it may be a problem with audio passthrough in general, not just particularly with the codecs used. If you look a few pages earlier, SiLenTYL and me have the same problem. In my case it happens only with some video files. He solved it by activating A.V. SYNC on his receiver (even though that only adds a 68 ms delay, according to the manual of his receiver). It's difficult to cope with, since the audio delay is not present or the same for every file apparently.

Another friend has the same problem with a digital TV set top box (nothing PC/codec related at all there).

I installed an early SAF 6.00, which I'm satisfied enough with... Now I want to keep all things in place, but upgrade ffdshow only... Any way to do it? If I download and install ffdshow separately... could I break something inside SAF?

    Thanks a lot.

yeh Spooky..i can tell theres a *slight* audio-before-video issue with passthru audio..it doesnt drift ever...so overall i dont really mind...ive put up with it for years but NOW its the best its ever been

if it were possible to give passthru audio a *tiny* bit of delay it would be perfect...but i dont really care anymore

as i see it..its as good as im going to get with my current setup ..since it only ever happens with 23.976hz videos(blu rays, mkvs from the USA)..and my tv broadcasts are actually 25hz here in australia it doesnt effect that at all..im good here

    @Airshark:
Right now, you can disable h.264 in FFDshow DXVA decoder or use PDVD11 decoder.
It should be already fixed in latest FFDshow revision...

Can you please release a version with this fix? Would be very nice! Thanks!!!!

    Hi Hoborg!
I've got a little question here.
    SAF 6 *work in progress*
    - direct support of unprotected BluRay's (without menus right now)
You write that I could play Blurays with SAF6

Until today I use BDHandler to watch BDs.

    SAF 6 *work in progress*
If you want to passthrough audio, use FFDshow audio decoder instead of LAVF audio decoder
But here you write that I have to use ffdshow cause I want to passthrough audio.

So If I use SAF6 with ffdshow as audio codec could I play Blurays without the BDHandler as well?

    Hi.
Yes, you can use SAF6 to play unprotected BluRays without menus in every DirectShow based players like Graphstudio.
The FFDshow audio decoder is only needed for DVDs, LAVF audio decoder already support passthrough, but dont work with MS DVD navigator.
