Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

I have a question about AAC audio-output as well: most of my movies have AC3 or DTS sound (5.1). Some movie have sound encoded as AAC. In my settings, the AAC sound is handled by LAV. This results in an output over my HDMI as 5.1 pcm multichannel to my Onkyo TX-SR508 receiver. So far so good.

However, my Onkyo has a firmware-bug in which it switches the 2 surroundchannels L/R. This is a known onkyo-fault which can be corrected by sending the reciever to a service-point and there have the firmwareupdate been done. But i don't want to sent it in, coz. the fault only appears with pcm-multichannel.

So i want the AAC file to be (re)-encoded on the fly as AC3 and then sent via HDMI to my reciever, and so creating a workaround for the AAC sound/pcm fault.

So far the lead-in to my question... :) What settings and other things are needed to achieve above mentioned stuff. I only want the AAC sound to be re-encoded to AC3 output. In earlier days i used AC3-filter for this. Is that still the only way to get the job done?

When i go to MP video post processor i cannot select nor add ffdshow audio, because it is not there. I doubleclick on ffdhow.ax to register, but it still is not shown....

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Hi hoborg,

I tried out SAFE 6.0 with MP 1.1.1, had two problems, either when starting playback I would immediately get a CTD and then it would happen over and over until I rebooted the PC, or, while playing a movie, the picture would freeze but the sound continued normally, at that point I would have lost control of the program and wouldn't be able to stop it.

Meanwhile I switched to MP 1.1.3 and SAF 5.02, should I try SAF 6.0 again with MP 1.1.3? were the above mentioned problems related to MP 1.1.1 & SAF 6.00?

Thanks.

EDIT: Also with MP 1.1.3 and SAF 5.02 I get the frozen picture while the audio plays as normal. So it's not a SAF 6.0 thing.

This might be a stupid question - I can't get subtitles to work with my mkv files.. I am using a standard install of SAF 6, and I am using PDVD11 as the codec..

    Does PDVD11 support subtitles??

    no.
You need to use MePo subtitles engine if you are using PDVD decoder.

But ffdshow audio processor isn't selectable anymore. It seems it isn't registered at all.

Right. I will look on that.

Make sure you dont enable subtitles durning SAF install, then enable subtitles in MePo setup.

Only with h.264, mainly the picture freeze with the on going sound. If the movie plays normally, pressing stop sometimes causes a total freeze of the PC, if I let the video to end normally, sometimes It doesn't return to MP, the PC freezes the same as pressing stop. The complete freeze at the end of a video happened with Xvid too. I haven't tried every combination yet, I just aimed to fix it as soon as possible.
As I've mentioned on your SAF 5.02 thread, for the last six month or so I've used MP 1.1.1 and SAF 500svn101001 , the only problem I had was that one movie, that played with artifacts, so I decided to upgrade MP & SAF, since then I can't return to a stable system for more then half a movie, a whole movie if I'm lucky. But the artifacts are gone.;)

My gpu: Radeon HD 2600 Pro, latest Catalyst drivers, windows 7 64 bit.

    Get bettter GPU:)
Try to disable DXVA - Start-saf-fddshow-configure ffdshow dxva decoder and here untick dxva for h.264.
