Only with h.264, mainly the picture freeze with the on going sound. If the movie plays normally, pressing stop sometimes causes a total freeze of the PC, if I let the video to end normally, sometimes It doesn't return to MP, the PC freezes the same as pressing stop. The complete freeze at the end of a video happened with Xvid too. I haven't tried every combination yet, I just aimed to fix it as soon as possible.
As I've mentioned on your SAF 5.02 thread, for the last six month or so I've used MP 1.1.1 and SAF 500svn101001 , the only problem I had was that one movie, that played with artifacts, so I decided to upgrade MP & SAF, since then I can't return to a stable system for more then half a movie, a whole movie if I'm lucky. But the artifacts are gone.

My gpu: Radeon HD 2600 Pro, latest Catalyst drivers, windows 7 64 bit.

Get bettter GPU
Try to disable DXVA - Start-saf-fddshow-configure ffdshow dxva decoder and here untick dxva for h.264.

Good advice, but how come that as I've mentioned above

for the last six month or so I've used MP 1.1.1 and SAF 500svn101001

with not one problem (one video with artifacts excluded).

A lot of things was updated in FFDshow between SAF5 and 6.

Good advice, but how come that as I've mentioned above

for the last six month or so I've used MP 1.1.1 and SAF 500svn101001

with not one problem (one video with artifacts excluded).

A lot of things was updated in FFDshow between SAF5 and 6.

I thing I'll revert back to MP 1.1.1 and the oldest saf 5 I have, I'll go from there towards saf 5.02 and MP 1.1.3 step by step, I must have missed something, WMP and Graphstudio play the movies without any problem, so does MPC-HC with DXVA and also I've tested my system with XBMC and 1080 content played with no problems, like my PC is on steroids.

XBMC (and VLC) is not DirectShow based.
For testing always use Graphstudio.
And if video play correctly in Graphstudio, SAF is working as it should.

When i have no sound by audio with 5.1 dolby on my tv it it is normaly?my tv have stereo and can simulate dolby.befor i changed to lav i use ffdshow for audio there i have sound when i play a vidoe with dolby.now when i have a audioline with more then 2 speakers i have no sound on my tv. When i have audio with dolby 2.0 i have no sound to.

XBMC (and VLC) is not DirectShow based.

Hello hoborg,
As a viewer, should it matter to me if my player is based on DirectShow? I know it sounds silly, but I've never thought to look into it.

I thought that if a player uses DXVA2 H/W acceleration then it's the same as any player using DXVA, I guess I've missed something.

Hi.
I think the easit way is to use MePo audio renderer or ReClock - both have on the fly AC3 encoding.

GIGABYTE GV-R675SL-1GI - if you want to play modern 3D games on your HTPC (i have this one in my PC and i can say it is great. It is passive cooled and GPU temp. doesnot cross 62°C in FurMark GPU load test. No problem to play all modern games).

There is a computer hardware retailer near by, I can have the SAPPHIRE HD 6450 for 50€, they don't have the GIGABYTE HD 6750 only the GIGABYTE HD 6770 for 130€ and no passive coolant.
They have the HD 6750 from SAPPHIRE, but again no passive coolant and for 110€

I've found one video card with passive coolant from ASUS - EAH5570 SILENT/DI/1GD2 for 70 € and I don't know if it's worth it.

I can also get an ASUS EAH4350 SILENT from a Friend for free.

I know you are not an hardware consultant, but I think I really need a new card and a suitable one.
