Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

eRJe:
You should have ~15% MAX CPU usage while FullHD DXVA video decoding.
Good way to test CPU usage is to start your video in Graphstudio to eliminate player problem.
For example for me, MePo thumbs. genereator eat a LOT of CPU power.

Again - test your videos in Graphstudio (installed by SAF) and watch CPU usage.

Hmm well with a X2 250e at 3GHz and a Radeon 6450 I thought I would be in the save zone... I guess I have to first invest a few bucks in a new mobo. I had issues getting x64 drivers and the PC sometimes refuses to boot unless I unplug the NIC

Hm, ok the problems with the NIC do not sound good ;). But why do you use a dedicated NIC and noth the onboard NIC? Also, you shouldn't have troubles with getting the proper x64 drivers. The latest Win 7 x64 nForce drivers (for the nForce 570 Ultra at least) are here, the latest ATi drivers for Win7 x64 are here, and for the Sound... oh... the ASUS download page does indeed not have a download option for the sound drivers for Win7x64 :D. But I guess the Vista64 drives should work too? (Maybe install them manually like described here.)

AW: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    Hello Hoburg,
SAF6 is working very good, but I have problems running m2ts files.
You can download an example from here: High Definition Trailers (HD) - Demo World
The file named "Cavalcade (Lossless)". You can find it in the THX Section.
If I want to play this file with MediaPortal, MediaPortal breaks up... Windows is saying.. Program is not working anymore.
I checked the logs but could find anything which could be helpful. Then I also tried to play it with MPC-HC. Exactyl the same happens. Any idea? Thx!

I bet this is a bug in latest FFDShow video decoder. Use PDVD11 decoder instead (from unlocked SAF).

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    SAF 6.00 SVN20110525:
    - MPC-HC filter/player updated to rev. 1.5.2.3148
    - FFDShow updated to rev.3855
    - LAVF updated to .27
    - DXVA checker updated to 2.5.0
    - HD audio passthrough was not enabled as it should
    - added forced subtitles selection dialog

BTW, forced subtitles doesn't work correctly in MePo.
MePo always overide prefered subtitle stream even when MePo subtitles engine is off.
It is working fine in other players (Graphstudio, MPC-HC, GB-PVR/NPVR, etc...)

    @Translators:
Please, update translation with latest "languages.zip".

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

I just cannot get SAF 6 to work satisfactorily for some reason.. I get glitching and jumping every few seconds, using either MS codec or PDVD11 codec. This is on both mkv's (bluray) and live tv (HD). I was using LAVF for audio.

Switched back to SAF502 and all is fine..

Not sure how to troubleshoot this?

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Hope FFDShow h.264 crashes should be fixed now.
I tried to play Cavalcade (Lossless) from Airshark's post with the previous SAF6 version and I also got a crash in MPC-HC and GraphStudio. But not right away, it happens after 2 or 3 seconds (and that time varies also from each try). New version of SAF6 (with newer FFDShow) still crashes as well. Also I tried to play the file in GraphStudio and wanted to switch to another video codec, but GraphStudio crashes, when I delete the ffdshow DXVA video decoder.

// ah, it does not crash when I delete the EVR Renderer first. Inserting the MS DTV-DVD codec (and the EVR renderer again) works, this way the file is played without a crash.

Yes, FFDshow dxva decoder still crashing on some h.264 streams :/

Can you post video sample so i can reproduce it?

I could do, but it doesn't seem to be any particular mkv.. It does it on all of them in differing places..

SAF502 is working like a dream at the moment, and I am happy with that - just strange that I have such problems with SAF 6..

One other thing, if I try to play the same mkv in Graphstudio, it seems to be fine - however the graph shows that it is using ffdshow, and not the decoder that is set in MePo (PDVD11 or MS codec) is this correct or is something amiss?

    Cheers!
