What was the source for the file, could only get it to play smoothly in graohstudio using ffdshow for both audio + video, and that was hitting 70% cpu use

That sounds what i'm seeing too. Don't know the source. A friend gave me this .mkv i think he had made it from his BDVD. But still the question what is the difference at this mkv file? There must be something with it. Even a reencode with Handbrake results in the same problem.

Then I suspect it's a bad rip and not h.264 compliant, hence no dxva.

...but I get DxVA with certain codecs. It can't be completely non-compliant; either that or it is a common non-compliant pattern that some codecs can handle.

Embedded subtitles don't appear to be working for me. If I select an external track then the subtitles show up.

I tell a lie, they do work. Just need to figure out how LAVF works correctly.

When I play all blu-ray (from disk) Mediaportal is crashed. Open file m2ts from this blu-ray in graphstudio? graphstudio crash too. Another files pay well.

i've seen today a strange problem. I've two .mkv movies - both h.264 1080 and both DD 5.1 sound. One is playing nicely 10% CPU the other one causes 90-100% cpu with PDVD11 codec. MS DTV and ffdshow are refusing to play this file at all. Any ideas what to check?

Just tested you sample and it is working just fine with FFDshow DXVA decoder and i have ~8% CPU usage in Graphstudio.

Don't know, for me it refuses to play using either PDVD11 or FFDShow dxva codecs, wondering if that could be the LAV splitter, are you using haali or gabest, not sure if hoborg used LAV, if he did then I'm baffled, as only get a blackscreen.

hi hoborg. On another system with a HD5450 instead f a HD6570 in my main system ffdshow dxva is working fine with the file too. But Cyberlink still doesn't.
