I will look on your samples, but not until 10.07.

There is a filter in FFDshow DXVA decoder - this preset should disable DXVA for MP4 with 50FPS, becouse there is a bug in FFDshow DXVA decoder - stutterring. Maybe the your sample is afected too.
BTW, if you just rename *.MP4 to *.MKV - does DXVA start to work?

Yes it does, and the movie plays fine, but only with Graphstudio and MePo, WMP11 plays it as before, I don't no with what codecs but the system tray is empty, no icons for FFDSHOW, and of course no subtitles, while with "real" MKV played with WMP I get DXVA support.

Another problem with SAF 6.0, many Divx 720p avi files don't play with WMP, it says WMP cannot play the file, there is a problem with the video card, but if I uninstall SAF 6.0, these movies play fine with WMP. Here is an extract from Media Info from that kind of files:

SAF doesnot have any support for WMP (use MPC-HC instead).
But i will look what can be done.
Can you post such small AVI sample?

WMP have hidden graph, Graphstudio wont work here.

No problem with the system where I installed SAF 6.xx. and WMP(12). WMP plays the file fine. No error.

is this a normal problem from windows ? I have an AVR with HDMI. When i watched tv the avr is off and passtrough the signal to the tv. My TV have Stereo Sound, also the maximum speakers are 2. When i start my avr windows don't check this and shows still max 2 channels and no supported audioformat, so when i watch an film i have no sound, except the film has stereo only. When i restart my htpc and the avr is on all works fine, all audioformats can be played, and max 8 channels are supported. I think its an handshake problem from windows 7 ? Has anyone the problem ?

Ive heard thats a HDMI issue, i dont have it myself but it has been spoken about in the forums before. A forum search will help you there.

Can you try to play it in graphstudio?

No Problem there: LAV -> ffdshow(DXVA) -> EVR.

So there is something strange while playing in MePo.....

Hello Sparky,

I have the same problem, and I see your MKV has embedded subtitles, exactly as mine, I also found out that if I play in MePo a movie without subs for a second or two, then playing movies with subs causes no problems. In my case I found that even playing a movie in windows, any movie, then loading MePo and playing MKV with subs is OK.

When booting to windows, then loading MePo, then playing the first file, an MKV with subtitles I get the following:

and then MePo CTD. Even disabling subs with DXVA doesn't help.

I get a "Mediaportal Funktioniert nicht mehr" (Mediaportal does not work anymore)-Screen and the only option is to close MePo
and go back to dektop.

I found the problem in my case, maybe it will help you, the problem is with LAV splitter. if I untick the selection box, view next picture:

and delete the language codes from sound and sub, everything works fine. Maybe deselecting the box is enough but I was so tired from the problem that I left it that way.

Where do you get this Option-Window?

BTW Sparky, how do you change subtitles when using DXVA for subtitles, the S key on the keyboard is for something else, and I also have a remote, but didn't find the way.

My HTPC is the only TV/Media Source in the living room, so i have to bee verry carefull with changes and experiments, otherwise i´ll have some troubles with my wife and the kids.

Im using it standalone, wich means after booting you´ll get directly into Mediaportal (Streamed MP). Therefore i´m controling it with my "Medion" X10-Remote (the big one). I´m changing subtitles via the button "DVD-Menu".

I can reproduce this. Looks like it is a bug in FFDshow DXVA decoder, MPC-HC and PDVD DXVA decoders working just fine.

This will be fixed in next SAF.

Sparky_Ol, you should play an MKV in windows so you get the little FFDSHOW icon on the system tray, you click on it with Right Mouse Button, choose LAV Splitter, there you can untick as per my attached photo.

Do you get FFDSHOW icon on system tray? Catalyst version 11.6? SAF - saf600_110620.exe?

I can play it fine with Windows MC, shouldn't it be the same with WMP?

Do you have any other Filters/Codecs installed on your machine that might do the differenc? My PC has Windows 7 64 x64 SP1 installed, MePo 1.1.3 and SAF 6.0, cannot get any leanner and cleaner, and yet I can't paly it with WMP

WMP uses MediaFoundation to play some file formats. Not sure if AVI is one of those, but if it is then WMP uses completely different framework (and filters of course) for the playback.
