back to saf v4! And...... magic?.......... with vmr9 no laggs no anything! Just works. With EVR laggs...
so can we say that vmr9 is better for old graphics?

But what has changed in v6 that i got only black screen with vmr9?

Xbmc is not a directshow\directx application, you have to think of MediaPortal more as needing lower end gaming graphics requirements to run, which support dxva for all formats.

I am trying to get subtitles to work, and I am having some trouble removing the Subtitles engine installed by SAF. When I install SAF, then restart, then reinstall SAF without Subtitles engine, it is still there. How can I get rid of the subtitles engine? This graph does not seem right, because I cannot see any subtitles. If I disable subtitles in MediaPortal in the videos section, I am not given any subtitle option at all during playback.

I finally switched to SAF6 with saf600_110722.exe (unlocked) from SAF5.02 (unlocked).

First of all, my problem with IMMERSE mkv's are resolved as you previously mentioned. So, thank you for that!!!

Secondly, I'm experiencing a small problem with SAF6. After watching an episode in MP-TVSeries; instead of seeing the MP UI on the LCD, the LCD says "No Video Signal" as if there is nothing connected to that HDMI port. If I press arrow keys (probably any key would do) on the remote, the MP UI is shown. Never had an issue like this before with any AMD ATI Catalyst version and/or SAF5 version and/or MP version. I'm using the same graphics driver, the only thing that changed is SAF5 (unlocked) -->SAF6 (unlocked).

And lastly, I don't if this is a MP or SAF6 issue since I wasn't using TV Server for a year or two. I can watch TV in MP without any problems, but in TV-Server Configuration when I try to preview a channel I can hear the audio but the preview window stays just blank. While previewing, I started GraphStudio and connected to remote graph and it shows ffdshow Video Decoder instead of Cyberlink PDVD 11 which I set in MP configuration according to your first post.

Any ideas?

This is how MePo works.
SAF does not install any "subtitle engine". There is one inside FFDshow video decoder, it will put subtitles directly to image.
So if you unstall SAF with disabled subtitles, SAF simply turn this FFDshow feature off.
A always, you can test this directly in Graphstudio....

But the FFDShow subtitles will not work if the decoder is CyberLink PowerDVD 11, right? I use that all the time for video because it has had the best results, but, no subtitles. How would I turn off the subtitle feature in ffdshow video decoder, and if that is what it is using, why would the ffdshow subtitle engine be on if the video decoder wasn't ffdshow?

Im still having sync problems with passtrough. I hoped that PDVD11 audio codec would fix,
but nomatter what merrit I use it does´t change in Graphstudio. Always Lav codec or ffdshow audio.
It works great with video, but not with livetv.

So is it a trick that I am missing, with the merrits?

Well, it can be more complicated, maybe PDVD11 audio decoder refuse connection with audio renderer, so decoding fall back to LAVF/FFDshow audio decoder.

Well, you questions are not directly conected with SAF. I have no idea what can cause signal lost ...

And TV server prewiev window - this is known problem. SAF change default video renderer to VMR9/EVR acording detected OS. But TVServer doesnot have any logic in graph building, it use system default one. And here is the problem, bacouse SAF change it, so graph use VMR9/EVR instad of simple video renderer.

I think there can be easy fix for that, just force TVServer to use Video renderer instead of default video renderer, or fix VMR9/EVR. But this must be done on TVServer side.

Or you can uninstall SAF, use TV server, then install SAF.
