No. Once the channels are linked, they stay linked even after renaming.
I took the plunge and renamed the channels from the main channels list in setup by clicking twice on each one. I saved my config before I did the renaming but it did not save me and the program guide is not updating again. Tried deleting all ch's and load the working config and just reloading without. Same result I have all my ch's and they work just no schedules direct info.

I am 100% sure that renaming after channels are linked is fine, so I speculate that something else is going on in your setup... but no idea what it is without log files.

That's expected. Deleting the channels gets rid of the mapping, and you can't restore the mapping by reimporting.

IMHO the linking of EPG data to channels is the worst weakness of the SchedulesDirect plugin. I normally recommend people use mc2xml + XMLTV to pull in the SchedulesDirect data. At least that way you have explicit control over which EPG is linked to which channels.

Thanks! I set it up and it appears to working a few days will tell. I think the effort to get a working guide is less with mc2xml +xmltv than the schedules-direct plugin in my case. A few channels are not in numerical order not a big deal but noticeable for those with low obsessive compulsive symptoms.
