Message: <blockquote data-quote="nzdreamer55" data-source="post: 702315" data-attributes="member: 106790">I am trying to use For the Record.  It has been a bumpy ride, but finally got it working.  I use the For the Record guide importer from Schedule Direct.  For $20/year I thought that if after 1 year I could do the scheduling better some how then I would, but it got me up and running so I can focus on other problems in my system.  My Clear QAM channels don't have ID information translated on them (or at least my card isn't reporting it to media portal).  Maybe the OTA channels do (I would suspect they would), but I haven't erected an antenna and don't plan on it. I had to watch the unknown channels and wait for a broadcast identification to come on to figure out which channel was which.  Quite a pain.  I then renamed them according to my local cable providers numbering systemSo my FOX affiliate is broadcast in analog over the cable on LCN 11 (LCN are the numbers that your TV shows you-usually).  The HD equivalent is on LCN 781 (I just looked at my providers numbering scheme for their digital service on Schedule Direct.  You can also get pretty lucky if you go to a place like TVguide.com and enter in your local information.  The nice think about this is you get the LCN and the affiliate sometimes with the network icon.  Three birds (LCN, Affilate, and Network ID) with one stone!  BTW when I tune my TV this channel number is displayed at 106-1.  We do not have a cable box and use the TV internal tuner.  The system that was set up is truly a thing of beauty.I am not using this at the moment.  I was also having problems getting smooth playback of the HD content.  If you don't know, it is possible to change the codecs while in media portal.  So you should take a recording you are having trouble with and stop it from playing.  Navigate to the settings section and go to the TV menu.  There you can change the codec and try again.  FWIW the H.264 codec is not used when you record a TV program From a CLEAR QAM channel in the US from the TV tuner card that I have (as far as I can tell) so you may only have to fiddle with the MPEG one.  I would change one codec at a time (it is tempting to change a lot at once, but resist as much as you can).  Then go back and try to play the TV show.  If you are having problems with sound make sure that you try all of the different audio renders as well.Right now under the TV tab I am using the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder for my MPEG setting.  I am also using the ffdshow audio decoder for the MPEG/AC3 Audio decoder setting.  I have a HDMI out from my HTPC that is from the onboard graphic and am able to send stereo audio to my TV.  The Audio render selection says: Direct Sound: Digital Audio (HDMI)codec 2-High Definition Audio.I also will stream from my HTPC via wireless LAN (N speeds) and have been able to watch DVD ripped movies (MPEG-2, not HD) and recorded HD content from FOX with out jumpy playback.  I cannot be doing anything else on the client that is receiving, but at least it is watchable.Let me know if that help you out.Steve <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" /></blockquote>
