phunqe,

Thanks for the HIP tip ! :)
This could be a work-arround (if playing videos can't be tuned properly in MediaPortal)

Spragleknas,

I've updated the technical information in my profile. I use a HDMI cable to a Plasma TV and a DVI cable to a TFT Monitor.

I executed all the reg tweaks (on my ATI HD 2600 Pro card), except for two (there was a message, that said these tweaks were not needed. And that i should only execute them if i experienced troubles with XAVID or something like that. I don't recall the name exactly) I can try to execute the reg tweaks again (and this time, execute all of them, despite some warnings).

The problem with MP is, that when you start a movie, the screen becomes brighter. I do not know where MP gets these brigtness levels ? I try to adjust them (in ATI Catalyst Control Center, ffdshow, AVCFilter, etc) but this does not work. The brightness level always stays the same... This is very strange...

I used the MPV Decoder (for MPEG2). May be i can change this to the FFDShow decoder (with the VMR9 exclusive unchecked). Maybe this will make the videoplayback smooth again. I don't know.

I'll give it a try soon...
Along with your tips.

Thanks for the advice :)

Update:

1) Turning off the "VMR9 exclusive mode" doesn't work. Even with FFdShow decoder playing (in stead of MPV) . Playback isn't smooth anymore. So this was a bad idea (and unfortunately for me did not work).

2) Spragleknas, using the reg tweaks (and this time executing all of them - despite some warnings) did not work either. The video playback in MediaPortal (at FullScreen) still stays too bright. And I can't find any option in MP to adjust these brightness levels. The brightness set with Ffdshow (via overlay) or in CCC center (The ATI videocard) are not recognised (taken over) by MP. So where does MP (that works with VMR9) gets his brightness levels from ? A registry-setting ? An xml file ? Can I tune these values manually ?

Please help...

3) Phunqe, I experimented with the HIP tool. It works great! With my MCE Remote I now control Media Player Classic (which started up in MP). There is only one problem. HIP has to be running as a process (before MP is started). Otherwise the MCE Remote is not recognised in Media Player Classic. But if I do so, then all the keys pressed on the MCE Remote (within MP) are executed twice. So, if i click the UP key, MP goes up twice (in stead of once). Dito with LEFT, RIGHT, DOWN, etc keys. This is no good :(

Do you know, how I can solve this issue ? I tried to turn of the MCE Remote in MP. But that didn't work either. Maybe the solution is fairly simple. But I haven't found it yet. So please help me, if you can...

Controlling Media Player Classic with the MCE Remote, would be a great workarround, if tuning the brightness levels in MP is not possible.

Update: (just finished testing)

1) I found a way to eliminate some of the double keystrokes (on the MCE Remote). I added MediaPortal as an Application in the HIP config. And placed (remapped) a delay for the existings keystrokes. This seems to work. It is not quite perfect. But managable. Phunqe, thanks for the tip. This is quite an nice tool... :)

2) Spragleknas, I rebooted my computer (after the reg tweaks). There is still some increase in brightness, when MediaPortal starts to play movies at FullScreen. But the brightness is less. It is not perfect, but viewable. Thanks for the help.

This subject may be closed. Unless other people want to make a tribute to it.

Greetz to you all,
