screen blanking + cursor reset at end of TV playback, MP1.2.3 (1 Viewer)

When I first installed MP 1.2.3, I had the subject problem (when a recording ends or is stopped, my Sony TV screen blanks for ~2 second and the cursor is reset to the middle of the screen). The problem 'disappeared' at some point, and I don't know how it happened.
Anyway, after messing around with some partitions, I had to reload all software starting with Wxp, etc.
Now the problem is back, and I still don't know how to fix it. I've tried every configuration setting that looks like it could be related - but no luck.

Has anyone else seen this -- and knows how to fix it? (not a big deal, but annoying)

Could this be the screen saver (and Power config - screen blanking), in Windows and/or MePo - worth checking settings for all, on rebuild your back to square one

Screensaver is off in both windows and mpconfig. I don't see any setting turned on that could/should cause screen blanking anytime (much less when a recording playback ends or is stopped - which is the only time it happens).

Any specific suggestions as to what to look at?

Found it. As I mentioned, I had this problem when I first installed 1.2.3 (last Aug), and in a thread I started then, tourettes mentioned that the issue was likely related to VMR9 renderer Exclusive mode. So in MPconfig -> codecs & renderer -> video renderer, I unchecked 'use exclusive mode'. (I really don't remember doing that before .....)
Problem fixed, and I don't see any other differences.

Wrong -- recording playback is noticeably worse without using exclusive mode.
So I'm still looking for a(nother) way to get rid of 2 second screen blanking when playback ends or is stopped.

Noticed a couple of other things.
1) Screen blanking does NOT occur if MP is not in full-screen mode when a playback is stopped; DOES occur if MP is in full-screen mode when playback stopped.
(If I use the Windows control for its version of 'full-screen' of the MP window - which leaves the top bar and window outline visible, no blanking when a playback is stopped)
2) Blanking DOES occur when either entering or leaving MP full-screen mode (using a key on my remote).

This certainly sounds like the blanking is related to some full-screen control, but what is it? I can't find it.
Clues, hints, or suggestions?
