This is another bug that was already present before 1.0 RC4 but I just upgraded and it is still there so I decided to report it. Would be great if this could be fixed for 1.0 final.

    Preconditions:
    - In MediaPortal Configuration --> General --> option "Blank screen in fullsceen mode when MediaPortal is idle" is activated
    - In MediaPortal Configuration --> General --> option "Turn monitor / tv on when resuming from standby" is activated

    Use case:
    1. MediaPortal in home screen (fullscreen)
    2. Press "power" button on MCE remote to send the HTPC into standby
    3. HTPC enters standby
    4. Press "power" button on MCE remote again to wake up HTPC
    5. HTPC starts up, shows a black screen for a couple of seconds, then the MediaPortal home screen for a very short time (only for half a second) and finaly the screen is blanked again.
    6. You have to push a "up" or "down" button on the remote in order to see the home screen again
This is annoying and also, you don't know, if the Windows start up process is already finished

Note: If you deactivate the option "Blank screen in fullsceen mode when MediaPortal is idle" then the resume from standby works as expected:
HTPC starts up, shows a black screen for a couple of seconds, then the MediaPortal home screen for a very short time (only for half a second) and finaly the home screen again but this time permanently.

Attached are traces for the good case (MediaPortalLogs_02_12_08_screen_NOT_blanked_good.zip) and the bad (MediaPortalLogs_02_12_08_screen_blanked_bad.zip) case.

Does it also happen when suspend lasts only for few seconds? Less than the idle timeout.

You really should have reported it earlier as we are only fixing critical issues after RC4. Just to minimize the possibility to cause new issues.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    1. Yes, it also happens, if the suspend is very short.
I have set the idle timeout to 5 minutes and it happens e.g. if the standby was only 10 seconds.

    2. Yes I know that I should have reported it earlier but I had a very stable system with RC2 and I didn't know if these bugs are still present in later RC and/or SVNs. So I didn't want to report something without having the latest logs...
Maybe you can schedule it to MP 1.0.1 or at least have a look at it to verify the risk of a fix...
I don't know why nowbody else has reported this because this option is quite important for a real htpc imho- Without that option, the LCD screen remains on all the time even if it is not needed and it consumes a lot of power. And the windows acreen saver causes even more trouble...

    Thanks for the link.
However, this Windows patch did NOT fix the issue.
It would have surprised me anyway because the patch fixes a "not responding windows".

In my case, Windows is very well responding and also MediaPortal but the screen is blnaked and you have to push a button in order to see the menu.

    Same here.....

..... could it be that the issues known from the AEON skin (defocused cursor) lead to this issue....

Pressing a button like LiveTV makes the screen work here as well.
