I thought that we might enable this behaviour optionally for the ItemsHosts (StackPanel, WrapPanel), so we can enable the "roll over focus" via skin only where it is useful.

@morpheus_xx, I'm happy to try and implement your suggestion, can you give me a hint as to where to start? Do I just need to add a property to StackPanel/WrapPanel and handle accordingly? Where in the skin would this property be set?

Yes, I would propose exactly this way. A new property which defaults to current behavior.

The setting than happens from a xaml style, i.e. inside a listview style definition.
