Can anyone please confirm that MP can be used in conjunction with the Serial Red-Eye device to successfully control Pace set-top boxes that use IrDA? e.g. Pace 1010.
By 'confirm' i mean someone has it physically working on their system

I rushed out and bought the Red-Eye Translater (which i can't get working) without realising the Serial Red-Eye is supported by MP....

Thanks,
Lee

Are you sure it's using IrDA? IrDA is a shortrange datachannel that I don't think is very good for a "long range" remote control.

However I'm using Hauppauge ir-blaster with my Pace STB (don't have model name at hand). The trick was to find what code set to use. Had to try a few hundred before I found the correct one.

Yes it's definately IrDA, a few of the Pace boxes use it (unfortunately). An IR blaster on it's own is no use in this case as a translater device is needed (RC6 to IrDA).

To anyone who may be following this thread.... i can confirm that i have MP controlling my Pace (IrDA) STB using the Serial Red-Eye device which is supported by MP and can be configured under 'Remote' in MP Configuration program.

Do you have this working with TV server engine? I know the old engine had specific red eye support but it dissapeared when MP upgraded to TV server and I have not been able to use my red eye with my pace box.
