I'm wondering whether multiple NICs on the client could be causing this problem.

    - this doesnt matter as long as wake up functionality is ok. powersaving need to be set as well for windows as for the connected network nic(s).
    - problem lies probably in some incorrect drivers that prevent WOL to function.

    hi there

if tested now a few times and it works 90%...
    so thats good...
the mp client now wakes the server when coming out of sleep... had 1 or 2 failures.. but still testing...
i noticed also that my laptop didnot wake up the server when trying to reach the hdd of the server.
again i went trough the settings, google, mp forum, etc...
i now uncheked the option [only allow a magic pakket to wake the computer]
that didthe trick, it now wakes the server when i want to reach the hdd of the server...
    yet now comes anoyher problem...
it wont go to sleep i think..
this morning i woke up... looked at the server and it was running and not a sleep..
used my iphone remoteless to put the server to sleep...
when i came home from work.. server was on again...
tonoght i rebooted and look what it is doing tomorrow morning

If you uncheck the option [only allow a magic packet to wake the computer] PC will be awakened with every packet that is addressed to PC. Whether explicit addressing of packets or broadcast packets. This is not the right choice because the PC will almost always awakened. As I wrote earlier, search problems at the:
    • network structure - describe structure of your network configuration, types and wiring all network components - switches, routers, NICs, ...
    • server network interface
    • network reliability - try to some longtime error rate network test

    well here i am again...
tested a few days and i concluded it works just fine.
server goes to sleep very well and when i use my laptop to reach server hdd it wakes perfectly.
recordings wakes the server also perfect.
no hanging of mp client when coming out of sleep.

    conclusion.... case closed!!

thanks for all the thinking around here.
