Next part I'm a bit confused with is can I have either a Microsoft SQL database or a MYSQL?

Sorry for all the questions. I've been reading the FAQ and Manual...

    TV-Server specific requirements

    Database server requirements

    *

It is necessary to install one of the following databases.
    *

Note: Since MediaPortal 1.0 the installer takes care about downloading and configuring the SQL server.
    *

    MicroSoft SQL Server
    o

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    o

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
    o

Additional (but recommended) SQL Server Management Studio Express
    * Sun MySQL 5
    o

    MySQL 5
    o

    MySQL GUI Tools [/]

Yes, but the password bit had me confused. I actually uninstalled the TV server and reinstalled it ad we are looking good. I'll try it on the PC I want to use it on tonight.

    Thanks heaps everyone!

whoops! I did try that, but I think its cap sensitive (or maybe I'm just a bit too stoopid!!)

Anyway I've got the TV part working (yay!!) but no picture! man I must be the biggest pain in the ass to you guys! Sorry!

I've installed the patch to sort the DVB-t stick. And I can find all the channels, but there is no picture and it doesn't see the channel info. Also I can see the Analogue card I have installed, but when I scan for channels, I get nothing. If I turn on the software that came with teh card. it works!

DVB stick is a Intel CE9500
the TV card is Analogue MSI PVS - its a conextant chip
