hi,
i am trying to configure the tv server without success.
i have searched the forums endlessly and couldnt find any answers.
first of all tv card doesnt support win7 but it seems to have correctly istalled. with its own software and wmc it works fine.

i am not sure if i have correctly installed mediaportal etc. i have followed a guide in the forums:
http://https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/mediaportal-install-guide-49685/

once i start tv server config i get an autocompleted usedid "sa"
i am gettig th error msg:
test failed: login failed for user sa. the user is not associated with a trusted sql server connection
i also get a msg as follows:
connection failed. login faled for user 'sa'. the user is not associated with a trusted ql server connection.

i have tried for many hours to sort it out without any luck.
at this point i have iven up setting it up so any help is greatly appreciated.

cheers,
maurbeast.

That guide is pretty old these now.

I would recomend using the MySQL database option in the installer. I believe that SQL Server Express is being phased out as there isn't a way for the MP installer to install and set it up in W7.

    Hello...
I would recomend using the MySQL database option in the installer.
    I concur.

i also get a msg as follows:

This also happened to me at first because i forgot to enter the password/entered the wrong password - did you enter the standard password mediaportal?
If the OS sees the tuner, MP should be able to use it (in my experience...)

I would uninstall MP1.0.2 fully, and install MP1.1RC6 as this by default should setup MySQL automatically, and also should have better support for your tv card.

first off a big thanks for the replies to all of you guys!!!

this is what i just did this morning.
but i still have issues with analog.
    cant understand why though!

the message i get now is no signal.
after reading several threads i have tried so many different things i have lost track of all of it.

    the weird thing is that:
i tried one antena cable to go directly to the htpc tuner card and another from the same antena (on the roof) but going to the tv directly (the wife is gonna kill me otherwise) as she dont wanna learn how to use mediaportal.
the prob is that when the cable goes directly to htpc tv tuner card i can setup all mpeg 4 dvb-t channels but none of the analog ones.

if i change and have both the tv and tv tuner card plugged to the same antena and scan for channels i can then find many analog channels (but cannot actually watch them) and cannot find any of the dvb-t mpeg 4 channels.

    any ideas?

    thanks again lads.

Weak signal springs to mind, your TV's own tuner is better at dealing with this than a pc based card, all you can do is check the connections\cables\aerial for any corrosion\alignment etc.

i wouldnt think its a bad signal as the tv on its own works perfectly with all channels.
second the htpc with said antena and cable also works perfectly with its own software both for analog and dvb-t be it mpeg 2 or mpeg 4!
i am guessing it has something to do with some settings etc which i havent properly configured.

the issue is that i havent found any clear thread were i can see a step to step configuration for the tv server and general settings of mediaportal.

many thanks once more for your effort dude!!!

I'm in the middle of installing 1.1 as a fresh install so I haven't seen the new TV Server yet (my other installs are 1.0.x). But maybe this will help.

After you install MP and TV Server ... if you move TV card to a different slot (or maybe if you install another TV Card) the TV Server gets confused. What I would suggest (what I did before) ... after all the TV Cards are installed ... uninstall just the TV Server and re-install it. The rest of your MP install should not be touched ... TV Server only ... worked for me.
