    HI,

From version 1.6.0 I am no longer able to watch TV. Even preview in TVServer Configuration fails with the above message. I can start and stop timeshifting in the Manual Control section. I ended up clearing everything, uninstalling MySQL and doing a fresh install. No change.

    Any hints will be appreciated

    Thanks!

    Hello Bjørn

Seems to me that the problem is with codecs on your system. Uninstalling and reinstalling MediaPortal and/or TV Server won't help with that.

Please configure the codecs that MediaPortal should use:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...nfiguration/9_Codecs_and_Renderer/1_TV_Codecs

LAV for all options is recommended. Configuration may show that LAV is already selected... but those are just the defaults. You have to click "OK" to save them.

This won't solve the problem with TV Server preview, but if it works it at least tells us that we're on the right track. :)

    Hello mm,
I had ensured, that LATV was selected. I now tried shifting to Gabest, after which the TV was ok. I shifted back to LATV, still the same error. Then I configured LATV to hardware acceleration, and then the TV is fine.

Still have the problem with Preview in TVservice server though.

    Thanks!

Okay, so your CPU is not powerful enough to do video decoding - no problem. :)

Preview automatically selects the codecs with the highest merit (priority). It doesn't use the MediaPortal configuration. So, preview is probably selecting incompatible or non-hardware-accelerated codecs. You can fix this by adjusting codec merits with Filmerit if you really want to:

...however personally I wouldn't bother. My recommendation has always been to test timeshifting and recording with manual control and video/audio aspects with MediaPortal (where you can easily select the codecs you want to use).

I am not sure about the CPU, it is a Intel Core i7, 2.8 Ghz. which is far better, than I have in my other MP installation which runs ok with LAV filters without hardware acc.(n)

I agree that I can live without the Preview, I just stated that because it also is a new thing which used to be OK - and a bit helpful in sorting away encrypted channels which I don't have access to.
