I like this idea too, but this would imply that we would pull both short and long descriptions and it would be up to the skin to display the short or long description when it sees fit. We of course could recommend the short on the browser and long on the details page though.

How does this sound?

I was just thinking the exact same thing, i'm sure the very capable skin developers of the major skins have no problem scripting this. After all, its just 1 database field on the highlight and then list another database entry in the selected movie screen.

I like the longer descriptions, although I'm often annoyed by them being to long (when the plot area has to scroll more than twice its height, that's far to long), and containing to too many spoilers - the really bad ones I occasionally replace with and alternate one from imdb.
Basically the shortest long description is the one I normally prefer.

Sound like a good approach.

Okay, I have created an issue in the tracker to add support for both short and long plot descriptions, currently scheduled for 0.8. So this means that both short and long descriptions will be available to the skin and it will be up to the skinner to decide what to use.

Movie selection screen = Short summary

for sure : short summary !.... seanss i mod the scraper evry time to get short summary and 1 dirctor and 1 writer...

all the skin's look cleaner and mach nicer ....i all time say lass scroling the better...


fforde can we ask also option for 1 dirctor and 1 writer ...
