You need to register shoutcastsource.ax, directions can be found below. Clickhttp://nolanparty.com/mediaportal.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=710&start=0
Once you've registered it in windows then you'll be able to play pls files inside MP.
You need to configure my radio to point to the directory that is in this plugins setup and then download pls files.
If you want to check if you have registered the shoutcastsource correctly, go into radio setup and hit the add radio station button. Select stream and search shoutcast, if you have it setup correctly then you'll be able to search. Else you will be prompted with the instructions above,
I got trouble installing it. Here's what I did: I registered the shoutcastsource. then download the plugin 2.4 and copied the shoutcast.dll to \plugins\windows.
Then I start the configuration.exe, go to plugins, check Shoutcast Downloader and click on the Setup-Button.
Then the following message pops up: "You need to move the shoutcast.dll to Media Portals: ./plugins/process Directory in order to have this work properly"
Even if I copy the .dll to /process it prompts the same message. I'm working with newest release and cvs of MP.
Wow I've been away too long..... (lots of personal issues, too much to talk about)
Anyhow, I'm fixing this plugin now and eventually do away with it as I'm integrating it with the Radio Setup form to automatically throw the info into the database. As an alternative, on my website I'll provide a seperate executable that you can use stand alone to poll the .pls files to your HD.
Sorry again for my abscence.
Well I finally finished work on that seperate executable.
No tie-ins to Media Portal, as it probably would work better that way. Anyhow, here is the link to the page where you can get on my site. Hope it helps you guys out.
Enjoy:
I've got a slightly off-topic question for you, but you might just be able to answer it. Most of the 'pls' files point to mp3-encoded streams, and these are played fine through MP. However, an increasing amount of broadcasters start to use 'MPEG-4 aacPlus' encoded streams (www.opticodec.net). These streams are really good at low bitrates, and ideal for me as a dial-up user (no broadband available). Unfortunately the amount of applications that can play these aacPlus streams is limited at the moment, but the latest Winamp is perfectly suitable. So, I thought I would redirect 'pls' files to Winamp rather than the 'directshow' path within MP. I tried it with and without your Shoutcast plugin registered (just in case your plugin insists on 'opening' the pls file to see what streams are inside it) but can't get this to work. MP3 files can be redirected to Winamp no problem. Since you developed the Shoutcast plugin I'm assuming you might know a bit more about these streaming technologies and maybe you can point me in the right direction. I've posted on this subject before, and I know that other users are interested in getting this to work as well. Thanks in advance!
I haven't looked at www.opticodec.net, I'll take a look at though. As for my plugin, all it does it just download .pls files, it doesn't open them, play them, etc etc.
If you want to have winamp open up pls files from within MP, you'll have add the .pls extension to the winamp plugin in the plugin setup so that the winamp plugin knows that it should open that type of file. Unless I read wrong, I think that's what you are trying to do.
Indeed, that's what I did, but I can't get the 'pls' files redirected to Winamp. When I try the same configuration for the 'mp3' extension the redirection works fine. I just asked in case you've got any other suggestion(s).
