Show TV guide alone (1 Viewer)

Hi

My TV contains a harddisk with an excellent recordingfunction, but an EPG that sucks. My HTPC contains no TV-card, but I really like the TV guide in MediaPortal, which I've setup using XMLTV.

My question is .. is it possible to customice MediaPortal, to call the TV guide directly from the home menu ? ... skipping all the recording functionality.

Alternativly, does anyone know of a plugin, which can show a TV guide based on an XMLTV-file ??

What you mean is this:

A way to link from the home-screen to the EPG, right?

If yes, all windows have a Window-ID you can call from the relevant XML-file (in your case probably MyHome.xml).

Please let me know if I get your wish correct

Thanks for the reply ... and this is exactly what I want, but do you mean, that I have to modify the XML-files in the skin-diretory to make a connection between the home menu and the EPG ?

.. is the solution easier if I use the Xface-skin ? - or do I also here have to modify the source-files ??

Depends on the skin.
Like etheesdad said, xface is already like that.
Some skins do have a menu editor ( one example StreamedMP). You can create your own basic home menu and sure you can select the EPG screen as a menu entry.

If your skin does not have it out of the box or your skin does not have a menu editor then you will have to revert to editing the xml files. More complicated.

It's not that hard.
If you search in myHome.xml or BasicHome.xml, locate
<hyperlink>1</hyperlink> This points to the regular tv menu.

Then replace it with <hyperlink>600</hyperlink> where 600 is the id for for the TVGuide instead.

Now menu option TV should take you directly to the TVGuide

Sorry to bring up an old post from a year ago. I'm using MP v1.0.2 and I'm trying to make the TV Guide accessible from the My TV button on the Home screen using the the Blue3wide skin.
I don't have a tuner card and the "no tuner card installed" message keeps popping up when I access the default My TV page. I just want to use the TV Guide.

I tried what solis66 suggested by modifying the BasicHome.xml file and setting the <hyperlink> tag of My TV to ID value of 600, but it still loads up the normal My TV page. I've tried other ID values and it still loads the default My TV page. Has anyone actually gotten this to work by modifying the XML?

Hi kocchi, without an installed TV card you won´t be able to retrieve any EPG data (TV Guide).

I'm using mc2xml (mc2xml) to pull data from websites, which I have working in MediaPortal, so I don't need the TV tuner card.
I have on another button to select live Internet streams of International TV channels, so I just need a simple way to access the TV Guide from the Home screen.
