Similar MPC-HC Lock Back Buffer option (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am using MP 1.0 RC3. I have the media player classic home theater direct show plugin installed for X.264 content and have the Haali Splitter for MKV's, rendering is EVR. I want to be able to playback content using VA, which does work with this combination.

I am suffering from tearing with an on-board HD32000 ATI graphics card when using MP to play MKV files. I see the same tearing when using MPC-HC, but if I enable the 'Lock back buffer' option within MPC-HC, the tearing is gone.

Is there any way I can enable a similar option within MP, or does anyone know how to get rid of the tearing (with VA though, don't want to revert to software rendering).

Thanks

I would assume you are using XP. EVR is not officially supported on XP and it has known issue with tearing (as exclusive mode is not used).

    to cure tearing use

    1) VMR9 + exclusive mode in XP
    2) EVR + Aero in Vista

    Hi,

Sorry I forgot to mention, I am using Vista. Although I have disabled Aero, are you saying tearing will be fixed within MP with Aero on, if so I will try tonight and let you know.

I have already moved from XP, as I could not get tear free video playback using VMR9 within MP. Actually it was actually corrupting the output when playing back within MP on XP. Inside MPC-HC it was fine on XP also.

    Thanks

Just to let other users know. Vista + Aero and EVR on MediaPortal solves all the tearing problems with video and plays back beautiful with the HD3200 using DXVA.

Since MPC can show subs with DXVA (I heard), can this plugin do this too in Mediaportal?

Where do I find this: media player classic home theater direct show plugin?

Can't answer the subs question, but I can tell you where to find it.

    https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=170561

Select the standalone filters for your platform, then download the MPCVideoDec archive. After you have registered it with regsvr32 you need to enable H.264 decoding on the MPC video codec using something like the RadLight filter manager (by default, it doest broadcast to directshow that it's capable of H.264 decoding so you cannot select it within mediaportal)

Thanks, but it is not really a plugin then?

What I hoped for was using the MPC as an external player for only X.264 encoded movies to get DXVA with subs.

Ah I see, just download MPC-HC Standalone from the previous link, that will give you the ability to launch it as an external player from MediaPortal then.
