Skin Proposal - TrueView 4X3 (3 Viewers)

I'm going to try my hand at Doing a skin from scratch... well, not really from scratch, but as close to scratch as I dare..

I see many skin designers going with the resolution native to their own TVs.... well, I'm going to try to go with an 800X600 display size, as that is the screen I'm actually using on my HTPC, which is then converted externally to my 4X3 32" analog TV via the S-Video connector. I haven't seen anyone design to one of the standard computer display modes and was pretty curious as to why, since we are all using computers for this endeavor.

Anyway, I've begun to mock-up a design, drawing from many of the skins already in development for the wide screen format. I wanted to try my hand at a Fan Art based skin, as seems to be so popular. I will TRY to get far enough along to support more than the very basic functions and plug-ins. I only use the core functions of MediaPortal myself... watching/recording TV, playing music and watching videos ... so I probably might not get to some of the plugins that many others use. I figure, since I'm not quickly running out to buy a nice new widescreen anytime soon, and most of the users already are rigged with one, I'm not going to see much demand in my skin.

So without further hesitation... here is what I have in mind. This is just a beginning, And I will probably add nearly all the mock-ups before I actually begin messing with XML (or maybe not)

Let me know what you think. You aren't going to talk me out of it.

I would say that its because your general user on the forum doesn't use their computer as the traditional sense for a computer but a home theater solution. Thus they tend to have them solely hooked up to their Wide Screen HD TV's and therefore code for the resolutions that they require

Here are some screen caps of my progress.... they will be slowly added to, and probably altered as I change my mind.

I want to thank Catavolt for his wonderful skin "PureVision" that is ultimately the foundation and inspiration of this skin. Thank you.... and for all the little tweeks to his skin that helped along in my understanding this a bit less foggy.

Like I said before, I will probably only do the core features that I use most... the rest of the MP world downright frightens me.

but who knows.

How is it progressing? Just stumble upon this theme and I have to admit, it looks fantastic. It uses all the new nice skinning concepts, but the most important thing for me. It uses a resolution of 800x600. I'm in the same situation as still many, we have one of those huge CRT widescreen tellies and allthough all the other skins still looks very pretty on it, it is just unreadable from more then 20 centimeters.

Anyway, just wanted to give you some thumbs up, hoping you will release a version pretty soon.
