djblu just want to say thanks again for this awesome plugin.

now this is getting to be well into beta quality i thought I'd report a couple of possible minor bugs
something I just noticed whilst browsing - Film4 today (14th) film Volver - the information has a couple of odd characters appearing - the 2nd A in (Pedro) "almodavar" and the 2nd E in "Penelope" (cruz) appear as A (with a twiddle on top followed by superscript 3 and copyright symbol respectively). I guess this is parsing error non-english characters or something?

some of the +1 channels pick up full program info for me all the ITV's, E4, C4, More 4, Film 4 are ok. movies 4 men +1 and movies 4 men 2 +1 only display program titles (no program info) but the info is there on the non +1 version. travel channel and travel channel 2 are also without program info.

Which version are you using as I have all the data for these channels.

Make sure you have the up to date .dict file too as I made changes to these too. All files are on the 1st page.

edit:

I have noticed Paramount Comedy 2+ doing this. I'll take a look into it.

    Hi,
In an attempt to sort out some problems with a possible clash between data being gathered via DVB-S and that from DVB-T, I've just changed things to only use DVB-S data, and forced a complete refresh of the epg. One thing that I noticed that is a little odd is that I have data for E4+1 but not for E4... There is a good chance that the reason for this is that the channel settings for E4 on my system are old/wrong. I can't face doing a rescan and going through the process of deleting all of the unused channels all over again (unless there is an easy way to do this that someone can recommend), so if you have good epg data for E4 could you post your DVB-S settings here...

    Thanks

    Andy

PS Does anyone else have a good solution to having a mixed DVB-S/DVB-T setup. I would really like to get epg data for those channels that are only on DVB-T... Actually are there any? Maybe I just need to review how I have my channels setup... I seem to have problems wiht fiver, and fiveus are these on freesat? Also the childrens channels CBBC, CITV, but these may just not be setup properly.... I can feel a new scan coming on... Bother...

    Hi Gloomyandy
I have a combined DVB-T (Pinnacle PCTV 3010ix) and DTV-S2 (Hauppauge Win TV Nova HD) and I have no problems with getting the EPG data from both, I only have the DVB-T channels ticked that do not appear on DVB-S and all works fine. I have noticed the E4 E4+1 problem though, but only since DJBlu's last tswriter, is it a problem with the tswriter?

The changes from the V1.0 to the SVN are technotrend based.

I haven't modified anything in the way of the EPG.

    Hmmm
Thats odd then, as I can definitely see the same problem of no info fro E4, but info for E4+1 the same as gloomyandy, only noticed it last week so quite a new problem, could it be E4 are playing around with the data?

No problems with E4 and E4+1 here.

gloomyandy: I've added screenshots of my details for E4 and E4+1. Hope these are useful.

Armyofme... Thanks for the data. I checked my entry for E4 and there were some differences. I changed things to match your version and I now have E4 epg... Many thanks!

PeteA... I also had the channels checked that I did not get from the freesat epg and most of the time things seemed to be fine. However I noticed that from time to time (like last night), I would suddenly lose some data from the epg. Usually this was for the current day, nd it was only some programs that seemed to be missing... I think that what may have been happening was that there was some sort of clash between the different epg data for the same channel. Looking at my logs I could see data being grabbed just for today and it causing existing entries to be deleted. It may have been caused by my having the "update existing programs" box checked. Do you/others have this set? What about the "always try and fill holes" option?

Seems to me that part of the problem is that it is not possible to only get epg data for a single channel on DVB-T (or DVB-S), you get whatever data is being sent on that mux... So in my case trying to just get the data for the missing fiveus and fiver channels, also resulted in epg data for other channels (like five etc.), being grabbed, and this seemed to sometimes delete existing programs...

If anyone has a good solution for this please let me know....

Also how do you folks scan channels? Is there some way to do it without creating a lot of work yourself? I've spent a lot of time, deleting unwanted chnnels, merging DVB-S and DVB-T settings etc. and I would really like to avoid having to do that again. But I would like to be able to re-scan things from time to time to fix problems like this E4 issue. Is there same way to scan channels but minimize the problems it can cause and have an easy way to delete the unwanted channels?

    All the best

I used to delete unneeded channels aswell, however, I ran in to the same problem as you - a rescan seemed like epic effort.

Now I just uncheck the channels I don't want in the main TV Channels section and created a group that contains all the channels I want. Now when I do a rescan, it updates channel information automatically and any new channels just appear at the bottom of the list.

    Just a small update.

I think, I say I think I have solved the missing Descriptions. I have tested this with Paramount 2 and Paramount 2+.

If this is the case then this TSWriter will be capable of getting 100% of the EPG and categories/genres. Now even I am impressed! :D

Oh and if you say the ones with "..programmes start at 7.00pm" etc. They don't count as sky's website doesn't have anything on the ones I have checked against so there! :D

    Update **

The Adult channels are like the Box Office channels so they are still a w.i.p.

I have done a full scan and the items that are missing Descriptions do not have descriptions on the Sky website so I assume all is well with this.

I will release a TSWriter in an hour or so when I have done a full scan.
