Synopsis::

I find that the Media Portal Program is very slow and sluggish.

When I am watching live TV, the picture freezes then everything speeds up to catch up. For example if watching "Sky News" and a presenter is say walking through a studio, the picture will freeze and then they will appear to run and the news ticker at the bottom of the screen will go very fast.

This seems to be a problem that is only experienced in MediaPortal as in the supplied software TV viewing is very smooth.

I would appreciate if anyone could give me any help on this matter.

I think timeshifting is being worked on at this moment hence what you have experienced (happens to me too) That's the joy of cvs.

I have tried to watch TV with time shifting enabled and disabled but it doesn't really make that much difference. For just now I will continue to update my cvs on a daily basis and hopefully this small glitch in this fantastic programme can be solved.

I have the same experience, but only with high definition broadcasts. I could not imagine this is a normal experience as it really makes tv viewing impossible. Again, there is no such problem watching tv via the software provided with the tv card (in my case DNTV Live).

I have been continually updating my CVS but I have still not found a remedy for this problem. I also found an update for my graphics drivers on the official nvidia site, my computer manufacturer was listing different drivers as the latest. Also could someone post what codecs they use and how to properly configure them as I think this may be the problem, I have tried various combinations but with no success. Maybe I am doing something wrong with this side of things :?: :?:

I posted in the post that is linked to above but I don't really think it applies to me as I do get a signal.

I have been playing about in MediaPortal and have done a clean install and updated to the latest SVN build as of 7/4/06 at 14:09 GMT. As I mentioned in my posts above there is not a problem viewing TV with the software that is bundled with my card. So I set MediaPortal to use the decoders that this software uses. With this setting I am still receiving a jerky picture in MediaPortal. What I did however notice is that the software supplied with my card is set to "Overlay" mode. When I set the bundled software to "VMR9", as it is in MediaPortal, I get the same jerky picture in the bundled software that I get in MediaPortal. So my question is how do i go about setting MediaPortal to use "Overlay" mode as opposed to "VMR9." I have tried looking in the Configuration programme and in MediaPortal.xml but cant seem to find a way to do this. I would appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Overlay mode isn't supported anymore in MP. You could try to lower screen resolution and see if it helps (of cource this isn't a sollution, but would give at least some hints).

I have tried a lower screen resolution like you suggested but it didn't make very much difference. I am starting to have suspicions that this could have something to do with my graphics card and that perhaps I need to consider and upgrade. :|
