    Hello everyone,

I have been playing with Media Portal for a week or 2 now, and I have to say WOW.
Its a great platform, and I am getting some great results with it.

One of the issues I am still wrestling with is the slow channel change.
I have read the many other posts on the issue here before posting - but I have had no luck:

Changing the Zapping delay setting to 0
Disabling every Anti Virus / Malware /Firewall setting in Windows that I can find
Tracking anything that is hitting my CPU / HDD and taking up resource.

My channel changes are around 12 seconds for encrypted channels and 5-7 seconds for SD & FTA Channels

Has anyone got any tips / pointers to identifying the source of my pain?

I realise I may be being a little vague - so please tell me if I need to supply more detail and logs

    Thanks!

Hopefully a dev can help, I'd put some logs on here ready, easy to do, just load debug mode from the start menu, run it and do a few channel changes and close mepo.

Should create a log file on desktop

I'd target 5/6 seconds for hd/dvbs2. 2/3 seconds sd/dvbs with tbs cards. Should be quicker when the tbs changes are implemented

and please try to test with LAV video as decoder for TV - we have many replies that the fastest channel switch is ATM with LAV Video (don't forget to set "hardware video decoding" in LAV Video decoder settings to appropriate value!)

    Thanks!

Done and Done - installed LAV filters (via Extenstion Manager) and set my TV codecs to LAV Video.

I will test it out this evening and post my results here!

just set "wait for timeshifting file" to 5 (15 default) or lower (you can go lower with SSD drive). (only valid on default 256 mbyte/file setting), if you use bigger files, you have to wait longer, if needed you can make smaller files, say 128mbit and lower it further without a SSD drive for timeshift files.
also i have "wait for unscrambled signal set to 2 (instead of default 5)
zapping is very quick over here.

    Hey LimpWhizKid,

    Thanks for the tips.

I have just logged in and changed:
Wait for timeshifting file: 3 (I have an SSD)
    Wait for unscrambled signal: 2

Wish me luck - itching to get back home and test it out, and i'll post the results here straight after.

    Regards

    Sohail

    Hi Guys,

    Mixed results I'm afraid.

The good news is that Free to Air (even FTA HD) channels are now zapping quickly (3 seconds)

The bad news is that my subscription channels are still at 12 seconds, and sometimes when I change channel, the picture will freeze, but sometimes the sound of the next channel will play. It corrects itself after 30 seconds or so - but sometimes I get "cannot start timeshifting - no video / audio"

I am using the Hadu plugin.

    Please find my logs attached.

    Regards

    Sohail
