    <-- system specs over here

changing channels on my system seems to be getting slower (looking at at least six seconds)

I have seen plenty of other posts about people changing channels in two seconds which seems far more acceptable and I am kind of jealous :(

Tried changing codecs and only using DVB-T or DVB-S but times seem to remain the same. What factors affect zapping speed?

Did think it might be down to having hundreds of channels setup in TV server but can't see why this would affect zapping time (surely it just picks up tuning details form database and then sets up and starts graph ??)

Please provide a clean set of logs for one slow zap (delete logs before making the channel change). Should pin point where the time is spent. Also could be related to 0002591: Slow zapping when the "Prefer AC-3 sound" option is enabled - MediaPortal Bugtracker

Will do when I get home. Have a feeling this might be tuner hardware (well driver) related though.

I take it then that six seconds would be considered slow? and I should be expecting a change much quicker?

    Logs attached

opened MP and started live TV on previous channel ITV1 - took ages

then moved to a different channel - BBC1 - took ages
then to another on same transponder - BBC2 - took a few seconds
then to a HD channel which is only on one tuner (DVB-S others will have been DVB-T if priority of cards is right) - BBC HD took a while
then to a SD channel - ITV1 - took a while and a black rectangle appears which is probably the size of the SD as proportion of the HD screen (so you have something like:

    Code:
    wwwwbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
    wwwwbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
    wwwwbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
    wwwwbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
    wwwwbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
    wwwwbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
    wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
    wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
    wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

wherw b is the black rectange and w is a picture. then disappears and normal picture resumes

As TsReader log is session based only (zapping between the different cards will start a new graph and log) the logs are pretty hard to read. Could you please provide one zap only?

    voila...
might notice something odd as typed in the wrong channel number twice

Since previous logs I unticked the prefer AC3 option and also turned off refresh rate changer to see if they were involved but no change.

This is just a single change between two DVB-T channels

Edit: just a quick note. I also tried changing channel via number, guide and ch up/down on MCE remote but all are the same

That seems to be a really long time. Takes 8 seconds to find the PAT for the new channel. I'll send a PM to Ambass as he has more knowledge on that area of code.

Got to run now but did see something in previous logs as well about not finding PMT. This is odd as the channels I was trying were in the main DVB-T where the PMT hardly ever changes.

    Thanks for looking anyway
