Small, Large Thumbnails, Filmstrip, Coverflow is slow (1 Viewer)

I would like to have a "nicer" MP with Thumbnails, Filmstrip or Coverflow enabled instead of the normal list.

But if I use this, it is slow and laggy whenever I scroll. I can hear the disks working almost everytime I scroll, so I wounder if it will help if I put in a SSD instead of the normal disk, or is my system just not up for the task?

Maybe I can tweak it somehow?

Best thing is definitely to buy a SSD!
I got also a HDD in my girlfriends laptop and see the same behaviour as you described (hear the disk is working almost everytime I scroll - maybe thats also because the HDD is kinda old now). Anyway, with the SSD I got in my HTPC everything is smooth! =)
But maybe you can tell a bit more about the rest of your system.
