Is there a specific setup that allows for smooth video playback on a 60hz monitor?

I have MP Audio Renderer enabled on my 50hz plasma TV which syncs audio and video framerate nicely but I can't get the same performance for the monitor that my other client is running on.

I don't think dynamic refresh rate will help me either as there isn't a multiple of 60hz that the 24fps and 50fps video files can get close to matching.

TIA :)

    24Hz on a 60Hz monitor is sort-of OK (24 * 2.5 = 60), but 50Hz on a 60Hz monitor is hopeless - it will always be 'not smooth'.

    I thought that dynamic refresh rate worked off multiples of the screen frequency, hence a 2.5 multiple wouldnt be an option anyway. The nearest multiple would be 24 * 2 = 48Hz, which is 20% out.

    Either way i guess id need a 50Hz monitor. Do they even exist?

    Thanks again

    Yes - look at the hybrid TV/PC monitors.

    I have an LG 24" 1920x1080 'hybrid' that has VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs, and although it says it can't do 50Hz on the DVI input, in reality it works fine if I force it in Windows (it is spec'd to handle 60/50/24 Hz on the HDMI input, but the DVI input looks better - has less picture processing - than the HDMI input....)

    If your existing monitor is reasonably modern, it may handle 50Hz anyway - have you tried forcing 50Hz (assuming your GPU drivers will let you do it) ?

    The client im running the monitor on has a Baytrail-T Quad core processor so im using the onboard Intel graphics gpu. No idea if this would support forcing the running frequency or not.

    Sounds like forcing it might be a bit cpu intensive, which is something id probably want to avoid as its a passive machine so will overheat if its loaded too much?

    It won't increase the CPU usage (in fact it might reduce it, since MP is only rendering to the screen 50 times a second instead of 60).

    The current Intel GPU drivers do normally have a 'custom resolution' section (in advanced settings mode) where you can specify a custom resolution and refresh rate. You might just get a blank screen, but it's worth a try before splashing out on a new monitor :)

    Hi :)

    Comment from buddy of mine :)

    By default MPAR wont allow such big speedup to be done (50 -> 60), but it's settings allows the max and min bias values to be changed ...or 48 on 60 (which is 2x24).
    In short, it works but probably is already too annoying looking as the speed up will be quite big.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Pretty much what i thought as both multiples of 24fps are 20% out of the multiples of 60Hz...

    24fps = 80% of 30Hz
    48fps = 80% of 60Hz

    Either way, its understandable that MPAR is going to struggle with such a jump, i guess 60Hz is just too much of an awkward frequency to run at. Its not a big issue tbh, as ill just use my 60Hz monitor for my server instead and just buy a 50Hz TV (or hybrid monitor as above) as you can generally pick a 22" up for less than £100 these days.
