Hi,

I am using a remote SQL server from my NAS (QNAP 419P) and would like to unistall the local
MY SQL server, because there is normally no need for it.

But after I disabled the MySQL service, the TV Server - Service did not work proper.

Is the local installation of MySQL needed ?
Where is my failure ?

Re: Local SQL Server needed ? (MP 1.1)

Well, did you configure the TV server to use the new SQL server yet? (You have to start SetupTV.exe with the command line argument -c.)
Also the new server will not have the database yet, unless you transferred the database to the SQL server on your QNAP manually. I'd suggest to make a data export from the tv server, uninstall and reinstall the tv server, with the new SQL server settings and then reimport everything again.

Re: Local SQL Server needed ? (MP 1.1)

Ok, the system is running well with the remote SQL server.
I just let create the database of the QNAP and reinstall the configuration of the system (recan of senders and so one).

But now, the MySQL server on the TVServer Computer is still running and it looks like, that MP needs the local MySQL.
I do not know why, but when I disable the "MySQL service" on the TV-Server, MP does not work anymore.

    Where is my failure ?

Re: Local SQL Server needed ? (MP 1.1)

Also was genau hast du jetzt gemacht? Mach es mal in dieser Reihenfolge:

    - TV Server deinstallieren (complete uninstall, also alles löschen und database droppen)
    - lokalen MySQL server deinstallieren
    - TV Server installieren

Re: Local SQL Server needed ? (MP 1.1)

(First of all, the system is fully functional)

( I changed the connection from the local server to the remote SQL Server, QNAP drive)

(The database needs to create new, because the naming of the database between a windows MySQL Server and a linux SQL Server is different. (Linux is using low and upper letters, windows only lower case)
    - Dann System neu konfiguiert (Sendertabelle und so)
(reconfiguration of the system, like channel configuration and so one)

Media portal is running on the remote MySQL Database, because time stamps of the local server did not changed, datas in the remote server are collected correctly)

My idea, no to get a fast system and more memory on the local TV server, by removing the MySQL Server on the TV Server.

After I disabled the MYSQL service in the system settings, I get a warning message, that the "MySQL Service" is used by the TV-Service.

(disabling of the MySQL Server service and a reboot of the system)

    - TV-Server arbeitet nicht mehr
TV Server did not work anymore

    - MySQL Server wieder aktiviert und neu gebootet
    MySQL Server enabled and reboot
    - TV-Server arbeitet wieder korrekt
    TV Server is working correctly

Do I need a local instanze of the My SQL Server on the TV server ?

    Gruss R.

Re: Local SQL Server needed ? (MP 1.1)

Well, I'd still try a clean reinstall. Just export your current settings, before you make a complete uninstall of the TV server, so that you don't have to do everything again afterwards.
Make a complete uninstall of the TV server, then deinstall the local SQL server, and then reinstall the TV server again and configure it to use the remote SQL server.

I also thought, that the TV server doesn't necessarely need a local SQL server.

    Hi,

I found the reason for the stopping of the TV-Server, when the MySQL Server was disabled.

The TV-Service has a entry "DependOnService", which was related to "MYSQL".
I removed this setting in the registry and now I could uninstall the local MYSQL Server.

The system is now running well only with the remote SQL Server!

    Greatings
