Hello,

I want to build a server which can handle the follwing tasks:

-Internet (Proxy), Print-Server, Streaming the TV to 2 Clients

My tv-cards:
-Hauppauge Nova S Plus and a Technisat Skystar 2.

I don't want to have HDTV.

Now I have some question about the hardware:

HDD:
-Should I buy two HDDD (2x 250 GB) or one with 500GB? Which solution is better, for example if 2 clients wanted to

record tv at the same time? S-ATA or IDE?

CPU:

I want to buy a CPU which can handle all tasks, but it should not be over dimensioned because I want to have a low

noise Server. What is about a mobile CPU? It is an alternative? Dual or single core?

power consumption:
Surfing through the internet doesn't need much power. The Server will be used only 20-25% for watching TV, so the CPU should have enough power, but during other tasks it shouldn't waste so much energy!

Thanks for your help!

I think that one HDD is sufficient even if you record and play multiple streams at once. One HDD also consumes less power and produces less noise than two. I recommend you to use SATA. This technology is up to date and wont be more expensive than IDE.

Look at my system specs / my signature for an example of a low noise / low power HTPC. I think this might help you. (The system does many other things besides running MediaPortal and still has sufficient ressources left)
