Some TV channels not working (1 Viewer)

Hi. First off I should say that I installed mediaportal for the first time at the weekend and managed to get a stable setup with TV working. However, problems started when I tried to setup the onlineVideos plugin. This wasn't working and to try and correct this I installed the suggested codecs on this forum (SAF 4), which did sort out the onlineVideos (YouTube etc worked), but it completely cocked my TV setup. I struggled to match the codec settings suggested in the SAF thread, with missing Cyberlink PDVD9 codecs. I managed to install these seperately, but still no joy getting the TV back. In fact, I couldn't even access the TV section - it would just crash on entry and I'd have to force quit MP.

So...I uninstalled MP in full and did a reinstall in an attempt to set the codecs back. This seems to have worked to some extent. I can now access the TV section which is displaying some channels fine. But on a few the TV is displaying a frozen picture of the previous channel and no audio (I'm in the UK - e.g. BBC works fine, but ITV doesn't). If I press Esc and back up to the previous channel it all plays fine again.

I have no idea if this is a codec issue, but would appreciate some advice on what to try next. I've attached a log of the TV problem.

to be honest, I'm not all that bothered about the onlineVideos plugin. I just want the TV system back the way it was!

Your logs are full of these.

But then you tune to BBC2 and get above.

Have you tuned to the correct area, are you in a borderline between different transmitters.

Check your frequencies match that of your area, ie have they moved any channels around prior to switchover.

Reinstalled the TV tuner, ran another scan but still no luck. I set Region to ALL, but have run a scan with Crystal Palace (i'm in London). It seems really odd - as I say it was working fine at the weekend. Do you think it could be a codec issue? I've no idea about these things, but I presume if BBC works and ITV doesn't then it wouldn't be. Do certain channels use different codecs?

How do I go about finding out this information regarding my local area?

Looks like 3 transponders are running on lower power than the rest, how far away are you from the palace.

Central London. Well within the Yellow zone. I can receive fine on my TV through its own receiver.

Interesting that ITV, Channel 4, 5 etc are the low ones. These are the ones not working. Sky and Bravo are ones that are definitely working. Is this a case of sit and wait to see if it's fixed, or can I pick these up on a different transmitter?

If you go to the above websites home page, there is a link for transmitter work being done, see if it is only temporary.

A tv tuner or stb is far more powerful than the tuner\s inside your pc, all you can do is check the frequencies are correct against the transmitter listed one and that your aerial cable\connectors\aerial are in good condition, then its down to the transmitter

Just to give an update on this. It seems to have been a problem with the Crystal Palace receiver. Although it still shows low on the website given above, the channels are now coming through strong. I used a nifty program that checks all channel frequencies and strengths etc. This showed the ITV (etc) transmitter at 17% the other day and last night it was at more like 70%. Can't remember name of program but will post it here if I find it again.
