Sorting Recordings (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I'm a returning user to MP and so far I've been impressed with the stability of the recording engine However I'm a little confused with the sorting methods available for recordings..... is there anyway to sort recordings via recording date which also respects grouped recordings in folders? For some reason my grouped recordings (folders) appear at the top of the list no matter if they're older than the newest recorded file, I guess this is similar to the way Windows displays lists and folders.

Hi Ben

Yes, we currently follow the Windows standard - display folders at the top, then anything else below. Having said that, there has been a bit of a debate about whether we should move to putting individual recordings in folders too or mix the folders with the individual recordings. I'm not sure what the outcome was. Suffice to say everyone had their own preferences.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply.... things have certainly changed in MP world. Coming from SageTV its quite abit different to what I'm used to (which is to be expected) but if I had a vote then I'd suggest not putting single recordings in thier own folders (doesn't make sense to do that) but still retain the ability to sort recordings based on their original airing date no matter if their in folders or not...... even if you have to iterate through each grouped folder to obtain the most recently recorded date to be able to place it in the correct position within the list.
