Hi Guys,

Not sure if this is the right place for this post but I'm not quite sure of the exact problem. I have my mediacenter connected via a hd5450 hmdi to a denon avr-1610 and then from the denon to the tv via hdmi.

Every so often when watching live tv, the sound cuts out for a split second and then resumes and I have also noticed that when I turn off the amp and then turn it on the next day, mepo is sitting on the tv guide. Usually, I set the timer on the amp and tv and then if I fall asleep, they both turn themselves off so live tv would normally be running.

Any ideas why the live tv sound keeps cutting out?? The HD5450 handles both the sound and graphics straight to the amp and is capable of DTS-HD so I'm doubtful it the card.

Any ideas why when I turn the amp off and live tv is running, it on a guide or menu screen when I turn it back on.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Steven

    Hi Iceman

Regarding the Live TV stopping: When your amp is turned off, the source relays (that you hear clicking from within the amp) depower and the as they change state your PC will transiently "see" that there is no monitor connected to it (for a few milliseconds). When this happens, windows will transiently change the default resolution/refresh rate from 1080P 50 hz (or whateve you have set), to 480x640 30 hz (or something similar), during which the media player will stop playing the video (as it can't continue displaying video during a resolution change - not sure why but possibly because of directX resetting or something?)

One fix for this might be to access your PC over VNC (remote logon using another PC to display the virtual screen), then unplug the HDMI cable from the back of the PC. The resolution and refresh rate will then change to the default. If you then (depending upon your GPU) select the item in the GPU settings to permit non-compatible resolutions to be displayed, and then set this default resolution and refresh rate to the same value as that set on your TV. Now plug the HDMI back in and see if that improves matters.

This is not a guarenteed fix, as it may be that just changing video source from the Amp to the default monitor will still cause the reset even if the resolution and refresh rate stay the same, but it might work.

It is discussed in more detail in this (enormous) thread: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/operating-system-330/windows-7-half-fullscreen-71785/

Thanks for the info. From reading it and trying a few thing, I'm no further forward at the moment. Any thoughts on the sound side of things? I have tried a seperate soundcard and the same thing happens.
