Is anyone else experiencing this problem, when playing mpg, divx via mp on some files the audio is out of sync - i've klite codecs installed, and if play the same file through mediaplayer classic/ffdshow then all is fine have no problems - but i don't wish to watch through this unless someone can advise on how to get mce remote working in them

thanks

Codec packs are BAD. Remove them and burn any thing that ever touched them. All you'll need is FFDShow.

that's version i downloaded - but still same problem - even if set mp to use ffdshow to decode video/audio

if play in windows media player then have no problems

but ideally want to watch in mp without having to close mp down to watch a video

unless someone can advise on how to get mce remote working in them

Are you talking about FF\rewind not working with various filetypes this is a known problem, try MPA\MPV as default codecs, or the inability for FFDShow to kick in for filetypes not supported by the hauppauge\mpeg codecs, which it does automatically once installed, unless you have told it not to.

no the issues i have is that if i play a video file via media-portal (ie divx, xvid) the audio is not in sync with the picture

yet if i shutdown mp and load up media player the same file plays perfectly - nothing out of sync

if i setup media-portal to use the external player with the following commands

    mplayer.exe /fullscreen /play /close %filename%

then mplayer will open fullscreen, play the video - but if i stop the video it doesn't return to media-portal, of which i need it to do - as need it simple as possible for wife and daughter to use

my mce remote works fine, it is only the issue with audio on various files

Make sure you have "default sound device" as renderer, otherwise sync problems can happen.

Playing Divx or Xvid files should use FFDShow as decoder, unless you have either the Xvid or Divx codecs installed.

Use filmerit just to check for any problems, after uninstalling or installing new codecs.

If not uninstall FFDShow and any other codecs that show up in the add\remove installed programs (except Hauppauge) and try the Vista Codec Pack suitable for xp as well, this is a pretty small pack preconfigured for HTPC use.

    thanks

think got ffdshow set to do both video and audio

with output via default sound device, but will check it ouit tonight and let you know

i'll also download the filmerit software and check

i don't have divx or xvid software installed - did have k-lite codecs installed at one time, removed and installed ffdshow - may try the vista codecs as use them on my main vista machine and all ok under media player

this is definitely issue with media-portal

    video decoder = ffdshow
    audio decoder = mpa decoder filter/ac3 filter/fdshow audio decoder/
    dscaler audio decoder/cyberlink audio decoder/
intervideo noncss audio decoder for hauppauge
    hauppauge wintv mpeg2 mixer

audio renderer = defaultt waveout device

all produce the same issue where sound goes out of sync

yet if try media player, power dvd, my theathre , etc, etc there is no sync issues

i've uninstalled the k-lite codecs, ffdshow and installed with vista codec pack but exactly the same issue
