its nice to know one has the right device, hence the comment about it
strangely when i stop the cno.exe in the taskbar it stops descrambling in mediaportal
maybe it is because i use mediacenter as well and so have a virtual tuner installed.
i have artifacts when i install the tuner as normal device and disable the mediacenter services.
when i stop cno and start the tv-server and tune in to a fta channel and then start the cno ,
all the artifacts disappear and i have crisp clear hdtv. as u can see in the video i made on youtube.
thnx for the tutorial its appreciated by a lot of dutch people that would like to try this and dont have that much of an idea what there doing. mediaportal is far suprior over most tv software.

Just to give you all an update on how the story in my original post ended....

At a certain point my HTPC died. I could not determine the cause (later I got other problems that suggest it was all an intermittent short circuit in the front panel power switch, but anyway...), and I wanted to change quite a few things anyway (like upgrade from a very old MP version and also from XP to Win 7), so I went over to a new motherboard / CPU (also lower power than my old system) and swtiched over to Digitenne. Actually I later found out that there is an even cheaper way to get DVB-T in the Netherlands via EDPNet, but that's something I will do in a year after the Digitenne contract has expired. See - http://www.edpnet.nl/thuis/digitale-televisie

The new motherboard has firewire built in, so I bought two second hand Digital Anywhere FloppyDTV cards (as there seems to be lots of MediaPortal support for these cards) and so far it seems to more or less work. I am using them alongside the AverMedia Volar Black that I used before. So far I would say with one FloppyDTV it is rock solid. With two FloppyDTVs the jury is still out - yes I have of course the legacy firewire driver in place and the latest firmware updates - but still I would say that sometimes wierd stuff happens when both are required. However, the system is still pretty new, so I'll report back if I get it working in a way that is really stable.

Just to save anyone else the hassle - the CAM module you get from Digitenne does not work with FloppyDTV, but you can buy one (Conax type) pretty cheaply e.g. on eBay. I got my CAMs with the FloppyDTVs from the guys who were selling them. It might well be that the CAM module from EDPNet does work - it looks like the right one in the pictures on their website - but I cannot confirm this.

Also, this combination of tuner card / CAM / Smartcard does allow multiple decrypted channels on the same multiplex (DVB-T channels sent together on the same frequency), so in general a set up like mine of three tuners with only two CAMs (one tuner for Ned 1 / 2 / 3 only) will cover "normal" use - you can generally just record whatever you want and still be able to watch live TV unless you are really unlucky.

    Hi All,
A few months now with this configuration and I can report that it's working perfectly. No problems. System also comes in/out of standby with no issues.
    Cheers
