The above specs are for my parents HTPC which im trying to get working. The problem is that when i standby or hibernate the HTPC resumes IMMEDIATLY. The only way i can prevent this behavior is to make sure that NO devices in System->Hardware Manager has the 'Allow this device to bring the PC out of standby' option(or whatever its called) enabled. However, if i do that, neither the remote or the keyboard can bring the HTPC out of standby or hibernate.

Note that this has nothing direct to do with MP, it doesnt even work direct from windows.

I seem to remember reading about others having similar problems, so im pleading for assistance....

    Hi ziphnor,

for some boards you need to set some jumpers to enable S3 hibernate modus.
Search the mptherboard book the jumpers for allowing USB devices to wake up the computer.
After I have set these jumpers, PC goes into hibernate and USB devices have permanent power, being able to wake up computer.

I had a similar issue on my A7N8X-Deluxe board a while ago when I recieved my MCE remote.

On my motherboard, the back IO panel has 4 USB ports - broken up into sets of 2. on the motherboard itself were two sets of jumper blocks for S3 USB power. One block controlled ports 1 and 2, and the other block controls ports 3 and 4.

I had the first block to +5VSB and the second block off - if I plugged the IR reciever into ports 1 or 2, the machine would immediately startup after being put to sleep.

I disabled the first block, and enabled the +5VSB on the second jumper block - plugged the IR reciever into either ports 3 or 4 and the machine would stay asleep and resume on command.

So what im suggesting if you havent already tried it is: enable the +5VSB lead for your other USB ports, and try another port.

I might misunderstand you, but my problem is not that i cannot resume from standby/hibernate, its that it happens immediatly after hibernating/entering standby.
If i remember correctly it used to work previously, something which i forgot to mention ...

You might be on to something there, if i remember correctly the standby and resume worked okay when i first set the HTPC up, but its possible that my father cleaned up the cable mess and put the MCE remote receiver back in a different port.

    DOH!

I solved it now. The problem was that i had brought along my wireless USB mediacenter keyboard and i had plugged it into the FRONT usb ports. As soon as i removed it worked again. So it was actually exactly the problem you described gxtracker, but just not the MCE reciever...

    I feel pretty stupid now:)

Just build a new PC 2 weeks ago and had similar issues with resume directly after hibernating, with a ASUS P4Pdeluxe motherboard.
After setting the jumpers it just worked fine.
I would recommend to check this first.

It may prevent you from wasting several hours of frustating trial and errors.
