This is a rather silly question....

I would like to know what event it is that turns on and off the Set Top Box (STB). For example, when you enter into My TV, you select that button "TV On" and TV auto-magically appears in the window. This also happens if you have the configuration set to automatically turn on TV when entering My TV.

So what I would like to happen is each time I turn on the TV in Mediaportal that it blasts the power to my STB. And when I leave My TV for watching a video, a recorded show, DVD, music, whathaveyou I would like the STB to turn off.

What I am currently doing is just leaving the STB on 24/7. It has occurred to me that might not be a good long term solution :D

In the Event Mapping section of the MCERP, I don't see one that says "TV ON" or "TV OFF". I do however see some that say "Recorder_TV Start" or something like that. Are these the correct ones?

Thanks!:D

I haven't had any success with this, and I've tried several events that seem like it may work such as the whole series of "Recorder_" events (such as Recorder_Start, etc.) and Resume_TV. I get no reaction. Do i need to tie this to some other event? or am i missing something with the parameters?

Or is this just not doable with MP at this time?

wow, I completely missed your post the first time round, sorry about that.

So none of the existing events work for this? Well, In that case I'll have to look into making a new event. You don't use TV Server do you?

    Cheers,

    Hey Aaron,

None of the events that I've tried work, unless of course, I'm not using them correctly. Basically, I choose the event (like Resume_TV) and have it blast the "power" IR code. Nothing happens.

Basically, i just don't want to have the STB on all the time. So if it could turn on while I'm watching it, or when there is a show to record (even if I'm not watching) then that is what i want. I didn't try the suspend events as my HPPC is on 24/7, but I tried all of the "recorder" events since I see those in the MP logs whenever I startup the TV.

Oh, and I am not using the TV Server, btw.

If you need anymore info, let me know...

Thanks, that should be enough to go on, I'll try to sort something out for you.

    Cheers,

Glad I'm not the only one :)

I wonder what everyone else is doing? Just leaving the STB on all day? That is what I'm currently doing, but I would think that can't be good long-term for the STB...
